I take my armour under the tongue and it's gone in 10 minutes. If I

have coffee, I'll have it right after that. I don't drink much coffee

because your adrenals hate it.

I also took 1 grain at 5:00- 6:00 AM and 1 grain at 2:00 or 3:00 and

1 grain at bedtime but have been dragging lately so changed my dose

to 1 1/2 grains at my morning dose and 1 1/2 grains at the 2:00 PM

dose and I feel better already. Today I took 2 grains and I'll take 1

grain about 2:00 PM and see if that'll get me back to working out. It

seems like adding more to the morning has helped with energy.

I found that if I place it in-between the outside of my teeth and the cheek just to the side of my mouth, that it stays in place until it is completely dissolved. This is even with eating and drinking.

And how long does it take to

dissolve? And does this make it more effective?

I don't know. Once I put it there I don't even notice it. I have just noticed that if I do my morning dose that way, I have a tiny amount left before brushing my teeth.

Is it more effective? I think that is the question! I don't think anyone has posted a scientific study...just personal experience and information that has been passed along.

I've heard some people complain about dissolving the armour between

your gum and cheek and how it can cause some dental problems but not

if you dissolve it under the tongue. I asked the pharmacist and they

said it's best to do it under the tongue vs the gum and cheek. Must

be something in it? I would have asked more about it but the line was

kinda long and I thought I heard someone sigh. Oops! lol Maybe I'll

ask next time.

It takes your saliva to aid in the absorption from anything in your mouth.

You would not want a dry mouth, as this would set you up for tooth decay and

the like, and you would not absorb your med as well. It will absorb.

But if you swallow the saliva with the armour in it, isn't that like just

swallowing the armour pill only the pill is mostly dissolved in the saliva?

I would suspect some will end up in the stomach and be absorbed there. But

a lot will still be absorbed by the tissues in the mouth.

I did an internet search on how you are supposed to chew aspirin, if you

suspect that you have had a heart attack (sorry I don't have the link

handy). They had a group of patients who swallowed the aspirin whole, a

group that swallowed the aspirin dissolved (I think it was like Alka

Seltzer) and a group chew it up in their mouth. The group that chewed the

aspirin the mouth faired much better. To me this suggests that quite a bit

is absorbed in the mouth.

I know that the study I read was about aspirin not Armour. There are other

medications that are taken sublingually like nitroglycerin for angina.

Again not the same drug.

Hi Sara,

I take my Armour sublingually in the afternoon so as not to

interfere with lunch. I still swallow whole in the morning since

it's at least an hour before I eat. Rather than place the Armour

under my tongue, I put it between the cheek and gum. It doesn't

break down as fast or produce as much saliva that way. I still like

the smell better than the taste.

Huh. Didn't know you could do that! I'll try it.

I think it's taste over smell for me.

Thanks!
