Guest guest
I would contact your employee benefits person as well as speak to a higher up with the pharmacy benefits plan. You might even ask to speak with the medical/pharmacy director. What pharmacy benefits plan is it? I might be able to get you a contact name. Elaine mail order pharmacy Through the work health plan, we are required to use their mail order pharmacy. Here is my recent experience with them. It started in December. The doctor sent in a script for alternate 125/137 mcg synthroid. The order was lost in the mail. I contacted the mail order prescription people and they resent the prescription, both strengths in early January, a 3 month supply. Case closed so I thought. Come March, I needed a refill. No I couldn't have a refill until June because I had already gotten 2 refills. No I did not get 2 refills. The one order was lost. After talking to a person, I got the 125 in the mail, but not the 137 didn't arrive. I called and they sent the 137. Now it is June. Time for the final refill. I got the 125, the last refill on the Dec script from the doctor. Even the bottle said so. They did not send the 137. A week ago, I contacted them and asked why I didn't get my 137 with my 125 since I am supposed to take the 137 every other day. They said I had gotten all the refills on the 137. No, my 137 bottle says one refill left. After going through the whole history again, I was told it would be sent. I contacted them again today because last night, an automated voice told me my doctor's new script faxed to them yesterday would have to be resubmitted at a more appropriate time. That was when I found out that they were not sending my 137. It is pending until August. After much talk, I hopefully convinced them that I need the final refill on the script now. Will I get my med? Who knows. They also told me that the new script for 137 was accepted and will be filled in August. What about the 125? They say they did not get that script. Can I have the doctor fax it(again)? Well, if I do, they may or may not accept it. After all, the pharmacy needs " wiggle room " . They will make a judgment. A judgment as to whether they will fill the prescription or not because it was being submitted before the appropriate time. I contacted the doctor's office and shared the conversation with them. The doctor's staff person was not amused by their attitude. " So why bother having doctors when the pharmacy decides if you will get medication or not? Wiggle room, my eye. " I am so glad I have old meds and samples that I can cobble together if I don't get the 137 in a week and have to call again. Can anyone tell me how I can get this straightened out or who I can complain to to shake the " wiggle " out of the pharmacy? --
Guest guest
The pharmacy plan is Medco. At this moment, I am simply exhausted, but I would appreciate a contact if you have one to suggest. In hind sight, I could have/should have asked for a supervisor, but they had beaten me so flat that I didn't think I could string a coherent sentence together. Thanks for your suggestion. Guest guest
I once had to get the head of the legal dept. at my firm (an international cpa firm --- now defunct) to get involved. She was very nice and the insurance complied once they got involved. I actually got a copy of the contract between the firm and the insurance co. so I could argue with them myself. Guest guest
Carole, How frustrating! Grrr, huh? I had the same problem when I was on two different doses of the same medication at one pharmacy. I would get one or the other but never both, and they were forever confused about it, so my doctor at the time suggested I get one dose at one pharmacy and the other dose at another pharmacy. Walla ... no more problems! Just a thought. Good luck! > > Through the work health plan, we are required to use their mail order > pharmacy. Guest guest
Unfortunately, I have to use the mail order pharmacy for all meds that have refills. But it looks like this attempt to get the 137 has worked. I just got an email confirmation that it is being sent. In a month or so, I will see if I can get them both on the same track again. The doc gave me 10 days worth of the 125 so I could wait on it and maybe get the orders linked again. Hope springs eternal. rose_nancy8 wrote: > Carole, > > How frustrating! Grrr, huh? Guest guest
There is just a chance that things may be ok. I got a email notice that they were processing a shipment. I am sure glad I have a good doctor and her staff to back me up. I feel they will get involved if things stay a mess. I am going to start taking names and verifying information more closely. This isn't going to be allowed to happen twice if I can possibily prevent it. Thanks for your help. Guest guest
I sure hope they get it straightened out for you. This disease has enough ups and downs to keep us struggling without having to fight with every single issue that comes up ... Guest guest
Thanks a lot. I got an email message that appears to be saying that they acknowledge my order. But I think talking with someone who can really get it straightened would be great. Elaine Young wrote: > I will try to find someone's name for you later today. Guest guest
Hi Carol. I'm so sorry, but I was so busy today I didn't get a chance to look into the Medco matter. I apologize. I'll try to do it tomorrow. Elaine
Guest guest
Unfortunately, you don't have much choice when you are dealing with a mailorder pharmacy connected to your health insurance, except to go out of network and pay full price. The retail online pharmacies such as Drugstore.com and RxZone are much more accomodating, but you usually pay more. wrote: Yeh. Get rid of this pharmacy and threaten threaten threaten.
