I am reading Dr. Kittley's book. I think I am going to try it and see. it's pretty strict. Does not allow corn or potatoes. Do potatoes have gluten? It does allow whole wheat bread, which I know has gluten in it...So it's a little confusing!

That must be her cell diet. I have not gotten the book yet. Potatoes do not have gluten.Neither does corn but a lot of peo ple I hear have problems with corn also. Wheat bread you want to avoid at all costs on a gluten free diet.

That is really confusing ... I'm eating corn everything these days --

chips, tortillas, popcorn, etc. Also potatoes. Never heard about

having to avoid corn or potatoes. Whole wheat bread definitely has

gluten.

Her book is oriented toward losing weight, not just celiac. If you were truly celiac, you also would not be allowed the wheat. (Likewise, being hypo, you cannot use the soy.) As a diabetic, I know that potatoes are a very high glycemic item, more so than many desserts. They send my blood glucose up very easily. Corn is excluded because it is a common allergen. sle816@... wrote: I am

Potatoes and corn (maybe) have high glycemic indexes.

If I'm using the correct terminology. They are no nos

especially for diabetics.

Nightshades are also implicated in rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune inflammatory diseases, but no definitive proof has been established.

Re: Gluten FRee Recipes

Potatoes are a nightshade plant, and corn is a grain, not a veggie. Many experts are saying that us hypos maybe shouldn't consume nightshades, and celiacs should not consume any grains except for rice, if you can tolerate that. Then some people who HAVE celiac are saying that they can tolerate certain grains, but not the wheat.

I have had to cut out all carbs. from my diet. Apparently, I have

candida. Anyway, I must tell you that I'm losing weight like crazy

AND I have lost my appetite and cravings! I never thought I would see

the day that I could turn down mexican food! So, for what it is

worth, try it. I'm a believer.
