People at work have

Advice? Ideas? I've got my 3 month check up scheduled. Do they do

labs at 3 months? If not, I'm going to schedule some of my own.

Thanks in advance...

Lorna,

I'm also a nurse. Listen to them. I dealt with anemia until I landed in

the hospital with a blood transfusion with a panic Hgb lebvel of 4.2. I was

very caustious atthat time with taking mu=y iron and taking 2 iron pills 3

times a day. I was having 2 heavy periods a month and my GYN was telling me

that it wasn't my periods but my surgery that was causing it. . Fast forward

almost 2 yrs I'm maintaing a low normal level(High 10's low 11's) and now that

I'm better, I'm horribly bad about not taking my iron.(I confessed to Dr K)

And my hyst was the most wonderful thing I ever did. I fired the Male GYN and

went to a Female who I begged to do a uterine ablation on me. My reasoning was

if 2 periods a month wasn't causing the anemia, it sure wasn't helping it.

She said to me- " why do an ablation, that might fail and need a hyst a few

years later?...We'll Just go ahead and do a hyst now " . I swear I almost kissed

that woman on the lips...LOL. So if you are flooding and can get it done, I

say go for it. I feel so much better and had amazingly good results. As a bonus

I can buy good panties and not have to worry about ruining them...LOL> For

years I only bought cheap cotton panties because I ruined them with unexpected

flow problems or gushing. Now I can wear nicer panties because they are not

ruined as easily. They left my ovaries for hormonal reasons.

Hope this helps.

i am exhausted after every period. Just ended mine yesterday and cant keep my

eyes open. Im so tired, im nauseated. I am anemic though and since surgery, my

periods have gotten a little heavier but not much- mine have always been heavy.

whats worse for me is the cramping since surgery.

kristy- what is the dreaded 4 year mark. Is that when labs go wacky with some

people??

Lorna,

I used to get one of the girls to do a quick hematocrit on me once in a

while. Do you work in a clinic where you can do that? I think even in

a hospital I would buddy up with someone in the lab and try to sneak

down and get one done occasionally. lol

Regarding other labs, I wouldn't worry about your liver enzymes for one

thing, they are bound to be abnormal. No sense getting yourself upset

over them. I didn't do labs until one year out. By then my LFTs were

back to normal.

Whoops. I didn't like the sound of my last post. What I should have

made clear is that I have done EVERY LAB ordered by Dr.K since my DS.

He just didn't order any until one year out. He and I assumed I was

doing fine as I looked and felt fine.

Now, some people get their PCP to order extra stuff and when it is

abnormal they panic and end up getting a liver biopsy and other

unneeded stuff. Yuck. Ouch.

Marta

If not, I'm going to schedule some of my own.

What I mean by dreaded 4 year mark - is that, a lot of us seem to crash a

little around the 4 year mark. I have spoken to Jo about this before.

Dee's calcium crash happened around the 4 years. Also, this rebound weight

seems to hit at the 4 year mark. I have also had other people tell me their

labs went the wrong way around the 4 year mark, and they had to up their

vits to improve.
