I totally agree. And the ones who have there nerve to call the WTC and ask to

talk to about this need to get a life! If you are mad, write a letter.

Return the tapes. Don't call the man at his place of business and take time

away from his clients. That just isn't right, IMHO.

:) who probably shouldn't have said anything because it might get

repeated over there, but oh well...

Amy, I gotta say, I like your style!!! I feel exactly the same way!!!

and I just wanted to add one more thing. Those who know the

many 'trials and tribulations' that some people have had with NCP can

relate to this. I think this person at Video Fitness has said it all

in a nutshell:

" I thought it was OK to tape something if it's for your own use. It's

not like you are taping them and turning around and selling them. I

believed them when they said they were brand new--not just new to

video. I consider this a marketing fiasco. It's turned me off Taebo

and I didn't get Tae Bo TV. "

Also - for the record - If you own a CD, or DVD, and you want

to 'burn' a copy for backup for your own purposes, that is perfectly

legal. Afterall, you paid for the CD or DVD (or VHS) and you have

the right to make a backup copy to prevent later inability of use due

to wear and tear. So what is the difference (legally or

theoretically) between taping a VHS to a VHS and taping a Paid FOR TV

program (PPV) to a VHS...??

Hmm. Points to Ponder!

Sorry to have dredged up this topic again. I just think that a lot

of people like to 'write their reports' without doing the research...

you know? Sometimes you just have to stop to THINK about what you

are getting all riled up about...

No one forces you to buy a tape, to spend your money, or to workout

to it either. Lord knows, no one forces ME to workout. Sometimes I

wish they would though... :) Would really help on those lazy days.

I have something to add to the point below.

When I received my survey from DirecTV about TBTV, one of the

questions was about if you taped the workouts. One option was if you

taped them to do the workouts at a later date, another was if you

taped them because the workout times didn't fit into your schedule,

or if you taped them to share with a friend. That right there tells

you that it's OK to tape them for your own personal use. Whoever

said it's illegal is just plain wrong.

Fitness are getting

I remember reading somewhere about teh survey for PPV - asking if you

taped these. Now I don't know much about legalities, but I would

figure they were looking to find out 1 of a few things. 1) if you

were taping them, and planning on using them later - BECAUSE they

were planning on packaging them up and marketing them as they have

done (figuring if everyone checks yes to this, it might not be a good

idea!) the other thing is just because they asked people if they

copied the tapes or not - doesn't necessarily make it legal. Why?

What if comcast sent out a survey with your bill and asked you if you

have a cable box descrambler? Now, we all know *those* are illegal,

but if you are dumb enough to check YES - does that mean that comcast

can't fine you or put you in jail?

At any rate - I tend to agree with you Ann, if they are going to ask

you if, when and why you copied the program, then wouldn't you either

say " well yes I did, because " or " Damn..(kicking myself in butt) why

didn't I tape those? " Misleading all the way around if you ask me!

Another Point to Ponder...

The person who said it was illegal to tape them was April,a Customer

Service Representative at Taebo. I think if she had handled her

response a lot better there would have been a much smaller pot

stirred. I mean sheesh...another example of the customer is always

right? Really, there must have been a better way to handle this on

April's part. I would have been mightly put off if she had said that

to me as well.

I agree with you whole heartedly...

They could have handled that better. But see, we prove right here

the one thing they already know... that most of us will still

continue to buy the tapes anyways. I would have been pretty angry at

a reply like that. It sort of treats the customer as if they are

stupid. Maybe the term " anal retentive " could be better used

elsewhere...

What bothers me most about the whole discussion over there is when they call

's Christianity into play. Are they perfect? They are not even giving him

the benefit of the doubt. They feel wronged and they're going to jump on

anything that makes them feel better. Personally, I think they need to get a

life, or at least a good hobby!

Since I originally cross-posted the information from Video Fitness, I just

wanted to apologize if anyone thought I was putting down the people on the

forum. I was just trying to point out the response from customer service. I

really thought about whether or not it would be ok to post the information

and decided to go ahead and post it since it had to do with the response

someone got from customer service and QVC. I tried to make sure only to

post the relevant info. and keep names, etc. out of it. Normally, I don't

cross post information and I hope I haven't caused a ruckus by doing so.

Sorry!!
