Guest guest
Hi All, For those who don't know me, the good thing is that I'm already educated on labs etc...first, by Shomon's group, then by Jan's group, however, this is my first experience with Armour and these are my first labs on 90 mg (1 1/2 grains) of armour.....I realize my doctor is likely going to want to drop the dose, so I would like some input first, from all of you because I'm not thrilled with the Free T4 number. So you know, I can handle a TSH of .84 and a Free T4 of 1.6 out of 1.8 upper range (on Unithroid-synthetic T4) but I think that is likely because my Free T3 is usually barely inside the low lab range.....these new labs are just the opposite. First, a little background....I started taking the full 90mg dose in the mornings because I was often forgetting the last half of it, later in the day. The morning I took my labs, I did take a 90mg pill, instead of a split dosage. I will tell you up front, I have had some days that I would feel a little jittery for a short time, but it would go away usually by about midday. I didn't know whether to chalk that up to Armour or because I also have quit smoking (yep, after 40 yrs, I've not smoked since 1/22) and there has been some shortness of breath, especially on these "jittery" days....however, not every day, so that's what is confusing to me....does that happen with Armour? I do not have Hashi's so the ups/downs of that disease are not a factor. So, before I post my labs, I have a question or two... 1. Could taking the FULL dose, the morning of labs, make me appear to be "hyper"? 2. Is it likely that my test might not have appeared hyper if I had split the dose? 3. If I go down to 75 mgs of Armour, my Free T4 is going to drop even more, isn't it? 4. If it does (remember, I DO NOT convert T4 to T3 very well) what would be the minimum T4 synthetic dosage that I should consider along with my Armour, if my next Free T4 labs don't look good? The infamous labs (which by the way, I purchased for $77 at Lone Star Screening and Laboratory Services) who not only do they draw for healthcheckusa but the also for Labcor. While you can't order them from all the Labcor labs, without a doctor, you can from Lone Star. I don't know if all their prices are better, but they charge about 1/2 what healthcheckusa does, to do a Reverse T3. They are located on Westpark in Euless if anyone is interested....I can provide you with their info and a contact person....who is hypo (and VERY knowledgeable) herself! She has already recommended Shomon's site to several patients, since I gave it to her. Labs (from last Thurs...I rec'd in the mail today) They will also fax the labs to your doctor, if you would like them to. TSH 1.283 range .35-5.50 Free T4 .98 range .61-1.76 Free T3 4.6 range 2.3-4.2 Okay, ladies...opinions please! I don't see how I can go down from 90mg without my Free T4 sacraficing as it's not great, right now! As I see it, I have 2 choices...try it for 6 more wks at 90mg but split the dosage in 2 doses or go down to 75 mg and test in 6 weeks to see if I'm going to have to add some Unithroid to the mix. Faye PS Wonder if all this Free T3 is why I have been eating like a horse since stopping smoking but have only gained 2 lbs?? hmmmmm lol How low will we go? Check out Yahoo!
