Guest guest
That sounds like a question for the doc.Sara wrote: I just started on my Metanx Saturday morning, after being on Foltx for a year. Not tired enough to nap, but definitely off center. I'm a little bit less goofed out today, but still edgy, and energy is still low.Sharon, and anyone else who went from the Foltx to Metanx - if you had these side-effects, did they last very long? I remember that Courtenay had serious trouble with Foltx. Also - I re-read Sharon's info-packed post from the 9th and she mentioned the need for the B's and the folate for hypos who tend to have heart issues and predisposition to Type II diabetes, as well as support for getting more thyroid into your system. I can't remember for sure, but I thought Dr. mentioned something else like nerve and brain function health. Is this right? If Metanx continues to exhibit uncomfortable side effects, is it ok to go back to Foltx, if my homocysteine levels are good and I can tolerate increased doses of Armour?TIASara Yahoo! Guest guest
Hi Sara, I have had that dizzy swaying feeling off and on. I did a increase in my Levoxyl and could be going to the hyper end. Get my blood checked the end of this week. I have the heart palps and every now and then my blood pressure raises some. I guess you never know when you get a shot of thyroid meds running through your system. It seems like we never know what we are going to feel like from one day to another until we get these meds worked out. > > I just started on my Metanx Saturday morning, after being on Foltx > for a year. Guest guest
That's weird. I wonder where the large red text came from in my post? I didn't do anything that I know of. Didn't mean for that to appear to have emphasis. Yahoo gremlins... I just started on my Metanx Saturday morning, after being on Foltx > for a year. Guest guest
Thanks, , it's so true - we all have to put up with the meds roulette while we're trying to get it right. But if I'm going to stagger around, I'd rather have it from a great margarita! If it doesn't continue to get better in a couple of days, I'll call . I was really hoping to get caught up on some work this week, but can't do it if it feels like I'm at sea! Sigh. Guest guest
Yeah, I would definitely talk to the doc. I guess the big question is: do they still make Foltx, or is it all Metanx now? You may just need time to adjust. However, Dr. R's office will be able to tell you what's what. --- Sara wrote: --------------------------------- If Metanx continues to exhibit uncomfortable side effects, is it ok to go back to Foltx, if my homocysteine levels are good and I can tolerate increased doses of Armour? Guest guest
Sara, I just returned from California, so sorry for the late reply. I usually tolerate medicine well. I also made the switch, and used to take mine in the morning on an empty stomach without any problem. Now I find that I have to eat something with the Metanx or I will have a very slight headache and get sick to my stomach. It passes after about 30 to 45 minutes, but I would rather it not occur at all. If I eat something, I don't even notice the change. Guest guest
Thanks for the info, Cathryn. I quit the Metanx after 3 days, since I was feeling so " jacked up " and uncomfortable. I could feel that my adrenal system was over-taxed. I had the headache problem pop up, too. Just didn't agree with me, I guess. So I'm back on the Foltx, which causes me no problems whatsoever. My B12 had already gone from lower range to over the top in 6 months, so I think I'm ok there. And my homocystine levels are mid-range. I will just discuss with Dr. when I see him next month and see what my labs are like. Sara > > > > I just started on my Metanx Saturday morning, after being on Foltx > > for a year.
