Guest guest
Happy New Year, everyone! First I'd like to thank PJ for inviting me to join her co-moderators staff. It may take me a short time to figure out everything I should be doing so I ask for your patience. Second I'd like to share an excellent website with you. and Noble booksellers has an online international " university " where you can take courses AND receive credit. The courses (as far as I've seen so far) are FREE (free is good!), but most require you to buy a book that you'll be using during the course. The courses vary in length but average about 4-5 weeks. When a book is required there's a link within the info for each course that shows what book you'll need and, if you choose, how to order it from & Noble directly. One question you may have is " What if I start it and then something comes up and I get behind or I can't finish it? " Hey, no problem! Life happens! These are all self-paced courses and there's LOTS of help from the instructors and their assistants. PLUS you can write back and forth with other members of the class, asking for help and ideas! And if you can't finish the course NO PROBLEM! You're not being graded and you can sign up for it again the next time it's offered! I took one course and sure enough life happened and it took me FOUR times to finally finish everything and then I signed up for it again to mentor others. The fun thing is there's such a wonderful variety of courses to choose from there's bound to be SOMETHING you might be interested in, and since they're self-paced you can fit it in to just about ANY schedule. And these courses draw " students " from ALL over the world! What a great way to share with people from other cultures ... really opening up the borders of our minds! From one course I took I made 5 new friends from different places in the USA and 3 internationally! Here's the link: http://university.barnesandnoble.com/index.asp?nhid=bn & userid=S9110epCwC & r=1 Enjoy! Jace
