Guest guest
Wow Ian, your pretty heavy on the US. I agree with the US Government that some supplements shouldn't be made available over the counter, young adults can go around and do all sorts of damage to themselves with seemingly harmless supplements, but when used in great quantities for the wrong purpose can be just as devastating to the body as if they were on hard drugs. I'm sure the FDA would have statistics of the numbers of deaths and children in hospitals who over consumed seemingly harmless supplements. Human nature is to error, especially our youth, the FDA may just want to lesson the damage to people when they do error. I've seen a few clients who made bad choices from freely available over the counter herbal remedies, they are now having a tough time getting their health back. If people had to go through a diet consultant, or natural herbalist to access supplements, then some of these accidents could be avoided. I bet I wont be popular for saying this, I had better run for cover now ;-) Regards, Ken Re: FDA's latest OUTRAGE! Supplements Trilateral ation Charter w/Canada & Mexico Dear , I am not normally a doomsayer or pessimist except where the U.S. government is concerned. If you honestly think that your petition will do anything to sway the designing men and women behind this then you are only fooling yourself. Your government, as with most governments, could care less what you want, think, or desire. If they don't enact it through this initiative they will simply tack it onto another bill and, viola! Done deal. Sorry, but the only answer is force, armed insurrection, which will never happen given the character of the American people, which is to be a self-policing society that serves its government ... as opposed to a society who's government serves them. Yours, Dr. Ian MacLeod, Ph.D. Ruby wrote: The SPIRIT of DSHEA lives in America, and around the WORLD as dietary supplement consumers are FIGHTING BACK against the FDA's latest OUTRAGE! As of 6:01 am Tuesday April 11th, so far we've generated 1096 signatures on our petition to defend consumer access to dietary supplements by getting badly needed congressional oversight on the FDA's Trilateral ation Charter With Canada & Mexico http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/373269232#body

I live in the States. Every single week the local newspapers have articles about how FDA officials approved drugs that they knew were dangerous...how whistleblowers (people from inside an organization who go against institutional policy of deception and tell the truth) get fired and even threatened...and how drug companies knew that their poisons killed people but purposely altered the data. There are so very few " accidents " with herbs, vitamins, minerals, and other nutritional supplements compared to the deliberate poisoning of America (and the rest of the world). These people in power know exactly what they are doing. I think it's naive to give them credit for being honest and compassionate. They are not. The few honest doctors and other researchers in these government agencies either are fired or quit because they have a conscience. This information is no longer confined to enlightened health sites on the internet. Even relatively conservative and " main " stream newspapers are carrying this information. People are waking up, albeit slowly. Just a perspective from someone who lives here. Guest guest
Hi Nenah, That's a pretty bleak picture you paint. We sure don't hear about it down here in the TV and papers. You would think it be to the advantage to the US Government, and FDA, to allow small private research groups like us to freely research health care technology. You never know what useful technology and new science we may create. Smart coorporations would see advantage in having the holy grail of health management nutted out, and not having to pay for it, we are all the bunnies doing that. I bet there are several business plans and stratergies in place for aquiring this technology and those with intelligence of it. If we are controlled, as I am sure we are, then we should be allowed to develop this technology to perfect performance, and we wont get into trouble if we tread on the right stones and follow the rules. And lucky are those that find their way to these forums. God smiles upon them. Regards, Ken Re: OT .... FDA's latest OUTRAGE! As only one example -- go to www.dorway.com/ to read lots of info on how there's been a revolving door between FDA staff and officials of Monsanto and other companies, plus their lawyers. Another great website with lots of drug industry exposes is www.mercola.com Blessings, Nenah
Guest guest
Ken, It is just the statement, " ...I agree withthe US Government that some supplements shouldn't be made available over the counter, ... " you are playing right into the hands of lawmakers who get their foot in the door with this sort of thinking. It is this " we need a law " mentality that has turned the US into a " near police state " and that will allow it to finish its goal of being a police state within ten years because the people have been conditioned to police themselves, leaving the government to do as it pleases behind closed doors. I am hard on the US because it is so hard on its gullible, ignorant, cowardly and otherwise apathetic population. There are a few exceptions, but overall the people of the US deserve the government they have. Ian MacLeod PS. Guest guest
Ken, should we outlaw rope, because folks hang themselves, or batteries, because the mentally ill swallow them? That is what the FDA is doing with herbs that grow here liberally in the midwest, and are literally free for the taking. England outlawed long knives that cut meat, and bread. I cannot imagine someone wanting to overdose on greens. It is to me, like eating mulch. I do not know any herbs in the natural untainted form that would entice a kid to " pig out " ... Even rough ephedra did not do much for my sinus problems, but a good onion or hot pepper did!! Like Nina said, dangerous drugs are being approved by the FDA daily. My friends $50.00 glaucoma drops gave him weakness and lethergy, much to the Drs astonishment. The glaucoma drops were tested on " children " per the labeling, and not on geriatrics, as many drugs are... He said he improved after getting rid of them. Read the book on drugs by NE Journal of Medicine Marcia Angell. It opened my eyes. I would like to find a book on grandmas home remedies, but the FDA has probably banned that also, as it has some of the ingrediants.
Guest guest
Hi Ian, You do have a point. People are not taking responsibility for their health, like we can go out and eat anything and do anything, and we want the doctors there to fix things up when the body fails. I guess our lifestyle and the way we have developed has promoted this type of attitude towards our health. I refuse to see people if they don't drink 2 to 3 litres of water per day. There is nothing much I can do for their pain if their basically not prepared to drink a bit water and keep their body hydrated. It's a sad situation to be in. Regards, Ken Re: OT .... I would like to see the current figures on death rates from modern medical procedures and treatments. It's always astounding to see how many people die every day from routine hospital procedures and prescription drugs. Does anyone have the current figures on this? Guest guest
This attitude is carried over into the rest of their lives they let their finances go until bankruptcy looms, they have casual sex with everyone under the sun until unwanted pregnancies or STDs ruin their life styles, so why should their health be any different, we have been taught since birth don't worry about tomorrow have fun today, the problem is that tomorrow is sooner than we think Terry Re: OT ....
