a little bit about me

Hi everybody:

I've been reading all the messages and learning a lot about the disease and

about how the foro works (by the ways sorry about the capital letters, didn't

know), and thank you guys for the welcome messages. I've been thinking about

what you guys told me (to tell my story) and here I go: I'm 26, my main language

is spanish (so please forgive me If some things don't sound to good, I'm making

efforts to work on my spelling, my speaking is better), I'm originaly from

Colombia (South America). I came to U.S. 6 1/2 years ago and had always been a

very sane person, very active, used to go to the gym at least 4 times a week,

loved to lift weights, was a good salsa dancer and had never been at the

hospital until I got sick on March the 13th, 2006. I went to the " volunteers in

medicine " 3 times feeling every time worse and they kept sending me back home

saying that it was " just a virus " . I had a whole week feeling horrible until I

went to another clinic and the doctor sent me to the

ER after she saw the CBC results. I was at the hospital for 11 days (5 of them

at the ICU until they found the diagnosis) and left on March the 31. I have seen

my Rheumatologist once after the hospital and I'm shcedule to see him on May the

5th again. He told me that I can go back to the gym and excercise, but there is

just no way I can do it, feeling the way I feel right now. My knees and ankles

are killing me, to the point where I even feel afraid to walk because I feel

like they're gonna brake.

I also had a part time job at a restaurant (at the bar) and I had to quit

because my wrists lost strenght and I can't stay on my feet for too long.

I just wonder if my knees will ever go back to normal 'cause right now I can

barely walk. Every day I wake up feeling new thigs and it really scares me.

Thanks again for the support, I'm very happy to find this place and hear from

people who really know how I feel, God bless you all.
