Guest guest
Had a great time at the conference. What an experience to have over 1,000 people in the same place speak the same language and understand what we think and feel every day. It was emotional and overwhelming at times, bringing back memories of our worst times, but mostly it was positive and inspiring. I especially enjoyed the teen success story panel. My daughter is 20 and I would like to see them do a college panel as well. Our whole family went and my 15 yr old w/o OCD was moved by Liz Mcingvale's family, especially Liz's sister, , who was so warm and friendly and reached out to my in ways she didn't even realize she needed. My daughter now wants to start a sibling support group. I think it's a great idea, because the siblings suffer so and are often neglected. I would like to see more sibling programs at the conference. I got to meet Jeff Bell whose article in the NY times enabled me to diagnose my daughter 2 years ago. I had e mailed him, but it was an honor to meet him in person. There were patients and therapists from the reality shows there as well. Went to Edna Foa's (ERP pioneer and director of the CTSA at Penn where my daughter was treated) session. What a thrill. It was intended for therapists, but anyone was allowed to go. I may have seen or spoken to some of you there and not realized it. We should have planned to put something on our tags to distinguish us, but there were so many things hanging off them as it was, it would get very confusing! Maybe we could have worn hats! Lots of passion, compassion and hard work going on in the field. Here's to hope... Terry
