Guest guest
Hi all! I just heard from the " team " at the hospital where my son is. They are recommending he stay until about next Tuesday when he can transition to a " step down " placement at the same facility he was at last week here in the Burlington area. It sounds like he has been doing well in the hospital. I talked to him last night, and he sounded better than he had the previous night. They had made an increase to his Zoloft, and hopefully that will help a bit. They also agreed (after some Mama Bear prodding from me) to consult with Sam's neurologist in Burlington about her recommendations regarding his possible PANDAS diagnosis. SO they are doing ALL of the blood work and tests necessary to try to figure out if his recent spike in symptoms could be related to that. When we had seen the neurologist in July, she said he looked like he could be a PANDAS kid, but that there would need to be more evidence. The only way, unfortunately, to know would be if he symptoms came back. SO she said if he started having more tics and more OCD symptoms to call her and have him checked out again. Well, things have been SO crazy with his behavior and in crisis mode that I hadn't even remembered that until he was in the hospital getting blood drawn at the ER. Ugh... poor Sammy. Is it a bit ironic that his name is Sammy? lol I feel better about him being there than I did initially because it feels like they listened to all of my concerns. The hardest part is having him so far away. But I will see him today. His dad will drive from Boston to see him tomorrow, and then once he is in Burlington I will be able to see him almost every day. Thanks again for all your continued support. Heidi
