Guest guest
According to patient and author Spero, R.N., " Self-management - that is, educating patients to take more control of their conditions - has become the new watchword in chronic illness. We know that nursing home patients who are allowed some choice over their environments live longer and that people who believe they control the course of their disease report fewer symptoms or complications. Some experts believe that many people find alternative medicine helpful [in part] because they choose it for themselves, rather than just following orders. More doctors now feel comfortable sharing knowledge and power with patients. Those who don't share need to be educated - or replaced with doctors who do.
