Guest guest
Hi, Im new here. I am a 26 year old female and have lived with asthma since I was 21 years old. (Adult onset) The first 5 years it was rather mild...to the point i could go 3-5 months without having an attack or using an inhaler. Ive been on only temprorary on and off daily meds to relieve my symptoms time and time again. Otherwise i keep a rescue inhaler handy at all times on me just in case. Im also an allergy sufferer and I am allergic to pollen. and when the weather unexpectedly changes the allergies come like crazy. I also have a real bad case of post nasal drip and am quite prone to sinusitis, bronchitis, Upper Respiratory infections, and have had walking pneumonia a few times as well which aggravates the asthma. Now, however, the asthma has been getting more constant and severe in the last week and a half with me. I have had 2 serious attacks in the past week but i managed to get by after i puffed on the rescue inhaler and took 3 times the dose to stabilize. I was hardly able to talk, i was wheezing, hunched over, nauseated, had a hard time breathing, tried to breathe with my mouth open since i couldnt with my mouth closed, got lightheaded and got really weak to the point i couldnt get off the couch and walk. It took quite awhile after the inhalar kicked in to feel ok. i thank god that i am still here today even if i really should have dialed 911 first. Otherwise, its averaged out to be a mild or moderate attack each day so far and ive never had it so close together like this and the last serious one was around 2002. I have been coughing up some mucus gak besides more lately as a result of the attacks. otherwise, after i do that im clear til i feel it before the next attack or when i get up in the morning. or, thru the day im clearing my throat or coughing up. It is worrying me and I think unfortunately, i have graduated from the mild asthmatic to the unstable asthmatic. even when i had been sick they never used to come this close, or like 2 severe ones in a week! I am making an appt to see my doctor asap. i tried today, but her office was closed for jan 2nd in observance of new years.so, im calling either before work, or while im at work tomorrow on my break and see what she can do and what we can work out since im getting worse. Hoping to meet some new people here on this board and get to know them. And get some support since im going thru a hard time with my asthma right now. And i need all the support i can get since its more chronic and life changing as a result of that. Its actually pretty scary right now. I talk on telephones all day in the type of work i do and almost non-stop, so wish me luck....kinda worried it may happen on the phones since its become so unpredictable and constant. Thanks, Weez
