Well, I made my trip to the Navy Medical Dental Clinic today via bus. It was

an interesting experience.

Pretty much everything that has been bothering me lately is most likely due

to allergies. Including the bloody nose, headaches, dizziness, chest pain.

Apparently I am one allergy machine. I got a nifty breathing apparatus and

meds to take prior to running but must still use caution in colder temps.

I also made the case for why I should be put back on Paxil instead of trying

yet ANOTHER antidepressant. Paxil is great for people who have social anxiety

disorders and panic attacks in addition to depression. (basically me!) It's

been five years since I got switched off it so I am hoping it will work

again. I'm just tired of playing prescription poker.

The scale was a horrifying incident. The HIGHEST it has ever read. I think I

handled it ok. I didn't grab a scapula and demand that it be recalibrated

(although I would be doing others a service). I came home and adjusted my

scale to match (in case I get back on) so that I don't go into shock next

time I'm at the clinic. I asked the doctor about my weight but he told me to

save it for my ob/gyn. <sigh>

On the way home a mentally disabled man asked if I was pregnant. I think I

handled that in stride too. After all most of the girls in that area are size

4 so my size 8/10 must be the typical 6 monther look.

I got home shortly before my husband who during dinner said " Hey, I got a new

scar on my neck! " Which he then should be this long 1/3 inch thin burn mark

on the back of his neck. A shell casing from a bullet hit him on the firing

range. I think I handled that in stride too. I don't know how I am going to

handle tomorrow though. They get to play with grenades this time <sigh>

Remember that no two scales are the same...well except for that they are

both our enemies <G>. Seriously though, very few scales will give you the

same exact weight another scale gives you. That is why the recommend you

always use the same scale at the same time of the day. What you are

measuring is a function of " reliability " (i.e., weight loss) vs. " validity "

(the actual exact weight you are). Most scales are not a good measure of

" validity " .

I hope I'm explaining this so it makes sense. So don't panic over what the

scale said. You don't really weigh anymore than what your scale said at

home!!!

Colleen, who enjoyed your term " prescription poker " but hopes you don't have

to play it much longer either.

Did they tell you what you are allergic to??? Eliminating the cause

of your allergies, would help you a lot in alleviating the symptoms.

Most common causes of respiratory allergies (ie nose and lungs) are

animal dander (especially cats) and fungus (which can be surprisingly

be found in a lot of places)...

If it were the cats, I'd just suffer through it. They lower my blood pressure

while inversly raising my grocery bill. No, my allergies are seasonal, and as

Elena has pointed out everybody gets hit with it bad in this area. We lived in

NY when I was a kid and I had to have allergy shots twice weekly, when we moved

to Texas it was bad month if I had to take a benyadryl. I got some drugs now but

I'm going to have to figure out how to get my Claratin as the military does not

provide it and I don't know how expensive it is.

Who is allergic to scales

<< Hi ! What a day YOU had! I think you handled it VERY well! LOL! I'm

on

anti-deps too. I was just put on Wellbutrin SR and it seems to be working

really well. My sister and brother are also on anti-deps, so looks like it's

genetic. :o/

I'm a size 10/12 right now.....but dropping again (FINALLY!!). I still

remember size 6/8 though! LOL!

Carol,

Wellbutrin did nothing for me. It just goes to show that different people

respond differently to different meds. Right now I am going through the major

fatigue which is typical of someone just starting Paxil. <yawn>

Whos husband survived throwing grenades, next week on Janeway day I get to

fire an M16 :-)

Ok, I just saw you 5 days ago and you look nowhere near pregnant!

So, obviously this man was VERY mentally disabled! Yikes, that's

kind of scary about your husband....MEN!!!!! I hope you are feeling

better soon! Don't worry about the Doctor's scale. I think those

things are set at least 5-10 pounds higher than our real weight :)

Take care of yourself!

Thanks, I knew he had problems before he made that comment. The worst part of

the day was learning that part of a bullet had grazed my husbands neck. It

was reality setting in.

Who hasn't seen much of her husband lately and if were to be found pregnant

would be in big doo doo.
