Guest guest
Hi all, We did take Lynn in to see the pediatrician after about 5-6 days in a row of either daytime or nighttime accidents. She had to give a specimen and be examined. Fortunately, I had given her Ativan just before we left for the doctor, but it was still very difficult for her. She had had a yeast infection, which is now gone, no sign of UTI or diabetes. It really looks like it is just a combination of extremely delayed urination (due to washing avoidance) and high anxiety as this problem will come in spurts and then disappear for a while. For example, she told me shortly before we had to leave to take her sister to school that she would use the bathroom in 20 minutes. I pointed out that we would be leaving then, so she needed to do it in 5 minutes at which point, she claimed she could wait until after the doctor's appointment (an hour or two later). Pediatrician suggested giving Benadryl at night as it could help if her bladder was irritated. I haven't heard of this use before and she didn't really explain, but it appears to be helping a bit.
