Hi all. My name is Beth. I signed into this group a year ago, but have not

posted but do check on postings from timetotime. Here is my " short " story:

My husband Will, was diagnosed geno A1 3 years ago. He went through 17 months of

Peginterferon (yes 17 months). His doctor did not check a VL at 4-6 weeks so we

did not know if he responded or not. So extra treatment. When that was finished,

his first VL came back ND. Second testing came back Detected. So this past

December he started Infergen/Ribavirin. Supposed to go 48 weeks of that. We do

not qualify for any copay assistance and missed 2 weeks of treatment. He

received an injection last Monday and has been sick since. He says worst ever.

We know to expect that(but not so bad). He is going to start again when feeling

better (since we have 3months worth of injections in the fridge=(.

I am Hep free. I work full time and am his caregiver. He had to quit working and

go on disability. This week has been pretty rough on myself. I am wanting to

find a support group for caregivers also (any suggestions?).

My question- He has never had a biopsy to know how diseased his liver is, he did

have an ultrasound 3+ years ago. The doc says that the treatments are supposed

to stop anymore damage ie cirrhosis, etc. If he didn't have a biopsy, how do we

know it wasnt cirrhosed in the beginning? I have asked him to consider no more

treatment when this is finished, as I feel that the treatment will kill him

before the hepc.

There is so much more to say, but I could go on and on...If someone could

respond here on the forums or even private email. I would greatly appreciate any

info, support or whatever.

Thanks for your time,

God Bless everyone

Beth
