Hi Fiona,

I am also in my

late 30s and have just rejoined the group, after a few months of being off the

tracks both in my banded and personal life. The BEST thing I ever did was getting

banded; I have lost 30kg, and know I would have put on a lot in the past few

months if it wasn’t for the band. I was also lucky to have been a member of

this site before, and I had tips stored in my head to manage the band. I have

another 30 to go, but I am half way. I don’t know of your surgeon, but am

sure if someone does they will fill you in.

Anne

Hi Fiona

Yep, I am a Dr Budak girl! I was banded on 16th August this year

and have had a great result - 27kg down in less than 4 months and

feeling amazing, I have SOOO much energy even though I am still

139kg!

I myself made a quick decision to get the band - it was within 3

weeks of the first appointment I was in getting it done and I have

never regretted one moment of my decision afer a life time of weight

gain after weight gain.

The thing I have worked out in life is that you have to go with your

gut instinct...if it feels right, do it.

The port goes on the stomach muscles on the left side, mine is

higher than my belly button.

Dr Budak does the fills on medicare so after the initial payment you

just have to medicare the visits, just verify this with

his secretary lady if this is the case for everyone.

PLease feel free to contact me for anything or anymore information,

my phone is 42614874 - I am in Horsley, there is a few of us bandits

in Wollongong. My email is killerbabe@...

Cheers and welcome!

Leah

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome :-)

It's so wonderful to join group of ladies who totally understand

the whole weight problem thing, & who are all on different stages of

the same journey that I am embarking on.

I'd love to get together with all you Gong girls sometime. I've only

moved into the Wollongong this year, so I don't know a great deal of

people around here either.

Thanks Leah, glad to hear from another Dr Budak patient, & also glad

to hear that he bulk bills his appts. I'm not privately covered, so

this will help.

Thanks for your contact info too. Would love to meet up sometime!

Hi & welcome Janie. Glad to see another night-owl here. :-)

Do you have a date for your op yet? I didn't go with Dr Talbot

(though he did my gallbladder op) because he couldn't get me in

before March.

Look forward to chatting.

Hi Fiona,

no date for op yet, I am hoping to " apply the pressure " and get it done

asap, i start a new job 3rd week in feb and ideally would like to

banded and over it by then, but who knows, i am going to call him at

9.00 today and discus situation. I used to live in Corrimal... went

Corrimal high! I am now down south (yallah) where land is cheaper.

Anyway I'll let you al know how the " talk " goes,

cheers,

janie
