Mitochondrial Disorder or Dysfunction

Has anyone had any mitochondrial testing performed on their child and/or have a

child who has received a diagnosis of a mitochondrial disorder?  My son's doctor

is having him tested for this because of his regression (which apparently can be

caused by or triggered by a mitochondrial disorder???) and I'm just trying to

understand it more and what treatments might be available if he does have a

disorder.  I've found some info on the internet but it's all very scientific

and my brain is just refusing to let it in right now.
