Guest guest
A Lawrence Man is Convicted of Intentional HIV Exposure 9:48 AM Oct 15, 2006 AP A Lawrence man joins a relatively small group of people with his conviction earlier this month for exposing three women to the virus that causes AIDS. Thirty year old faces probation. He is charged with the same crimes in Lyon and Wyandotte counties, as well as County, Missouri. A Yale University study in 2003 determined just 300 people nationwide had been prosecuted under such laws. The charge itself is controversial, with some groups saying it prevents people from being tested for HIV. Most states didn't pass such law until the late 1990s. And experts say prosecutors do not systematically pursue such cases.
