We have it on the back of his shirt pinned. I am tired..... Seems like this will never be fixed. Any suggesting?? To: Multiples-DS Sent: Sun, September 19, 2010 1:54:01 PMSubject: Re: hearing loss? To Good to know. I am worried that having all the tubes in and out can cause the damage? Or is it just normal to expect the hearing loss???? When his ears are infected, I can always tell, since his speak gets less and he turns things up. But he hasn't been sick, and the primary doc didn't see anything wrong with his ear drums. I guess we will know more next week. Thanks for the input Joyce. Love life and be gentle, ,Yes, all three of my children with Down Syndrome have had many sets of tubes in their ears and all three of my kids wear hearing aids. The three of them have moderate hearing loss. Only Ben (age 27) and (age 17) watch any tv or listen to music and they both "blare" the music or the television without the hearing aids. Also, they both speak much better when they wear their hearing aids. I've been told that they can hear, but if I put my hands over my ears....this is how they are hearing the things that are going on around them. As for (age 13), he is totally non-verbal and does terrible with the hearing aids in because of his autism and he rarely wears his hearing aids. In some ways, the hearing loss is a blessing with him, as certain sounds really upset him when he had his hearing aids on. You'll certainly know a lot more after you take Davey to the audiologist and the ENT doctor. Keep us posted! We took him to the primary care (new one since we just moved in June) and the primary care had his MA do a hearing screening in the office. The exam that our doctor did showed the ear drums were not inflamed and he could see the ear tubes. It was noted moderate hearing loss in both ears. We have noticed that Davey has had the TV very loud, but thought this was a bad habit. We have an appointment with the audiologist on Wed and see a new ENT on thursday. Davey has had his current ear tubes (he has had 8 sets so far) for over 2 years. Has anyone seen hearing loss with problems with the ear tubes in their children? Thanks for any advice or info.mom to Amy (almost 23), Kelsey (20), Davey (DS) and Will are 10.Love life and be gentle,
