Guest guest
Terriann, I prefer to think of them as "hungry days". Everyone experiences them. If I have a really good workout in the morning, I am starving all day. On the other hand, if I am having a lazy day, I will eat much less (unless I'm snacking for the fun of it!) I think babies can certainly be hungrier some days than others. Whether or not they are actually growing fast at that time doesn't matter. Maybe they have just been expending more calories from crying or learning a new developmental skill and so need to take in more calories for a while. When babies are fed from bottles, however, their caretakers probably think that they need more, so will always need this new increased amount, instead of it being a temporary change. I think this probably leads to overfeeding. Becky , IBCLC Milky Way La Plata, MD www.milkywaybreastfeeding.com
