Guest guest
WHAT REALLY HAPPENS WHEN YOU " VOTE! " with Chase or Pepsi for your favorite non-profit to help them raise money. While these campaigns are marketed as " voting " competitions, their primary function is to harvest email addresses and names from " voting " participants for purposes of building marketing databases for email spamming. When you vote, your email address and information will go into a database which will then be used to send you out marketing emails which may or may not come from the original campaign marketer (Pepsi, Chase, etc.). There is nothing inherently wrong with giving up a little of your privacy in support of your favorite non-profit. But this should not be hidden in privacy fine print and disguised as voting " that doesn't cost a thing " . It sure will cost you your privacy and you should know that upfront. And one would think that your favorite non-profit should not have to rely on stealth marketing to raise money from their beloved supporters.
