Guest guest
Hi Ria, Wellbutrin when over prescribed, as I found out also, can cause you to be " anxious and agitated " , as you said. Vornan, the group moderator, is experimenting with Wellbutrin but he started at 18.5mg doses and has steadily increased this by 18.5 mg's I believe weekly. If you read this Vornan, how is this experiment with Wellbutrin working out and at what dosage are you at right now. When I tried Wellbutrin I was prescribed 150 mg. This was way to much for my taste. I tried cutting the pill in half and found 75mg to even be to much. So, I quit taking Wellbutrin. But after reading Vornans experiment starting at 18.5 mg ( he cut a 150mg pill I believe into 8 equal sections, tricky I bet) and was increasing it weekly to a tolarable dosage. This could be the answer to unlocking Wellbutrins potential without the side effects. Just a thought. -- In SSRIsex , " riagant " wrote: > > Dave, > > > To start, most of us here on this group have decided to quit taking > > anti-depressants because of the persistant sexual side effects that > > you are experiencing right now. > - I tried that and did not do well off of meds. :-((( > > > I take DL-PHENYLALANINE 500 mg. tablets to reduce anxiety and I have > > found this to do the trick as opposed to taking Prozac. > - I too took PHENYLALANINE both L and DL types. Guest guest
Dave, Thanx for the reply. > Wellbutrin when over prescribed, as I found out also, can cause you > to be " anxious and agitated " , as you said. > Vornan, the group moderator, is experimenting with Wellbutrin but he > started at 18.5mg doses and has steadily increased this by 18.5 mg's > I believe weekly. - Tried this experiment myself AFTER the doc prescribed 150mg taken BID. I was " flying off the handle " doing that. Eventually, I was taking 37.5 mg once a day. I forget if I were using the _SR or XR_ Wellbutrin. I had a _sore throat_ with the meds and some chest discomfort as well as urinating too much. My doc was so interested in getting me " better " that he completely alienated me from the drug in his slam bang manner... And frankly I did not feel at all well or sexual on the drug as I felt " pissed off " all the time. I might try again though with Wellbutrin.. Maybe I'd use it as an antidote to what I am doing right now? Doc suggests this but not in the paced and measured wasy that Vornan is approaching things. I thought Wellbutrin affects dopamine ONLY. On this NG I see reference of Norepinephrine as another neurotransmitter that Wellbutrin affects, Was this info pulled from a packaged insert? Guest guest
Ria, Ria, given all the side effects Wellbutrin has given you, personally if I were you, I wouldn't be interested in taking Wellbutrin again either. Have you read past posts started by Hawaiian Wayne concerning Dexadrine. Dexadrine(Dex)like Wellburtin increases levels of dopamine and noradrenaline by inhibiting their reuptake. Dexadrine also inceases norepinephrine. Maybe Dex is a alternative to Wellbutrin for you instead. Wayne was suggesting Dex may have been the catalyst for increasing his libido. Dex at to high doses would make you hyper and possibly agitated, so again, starting at the lowest possible dosage would be a good way to test it if you chose to. Interestingly the US Air Force uses dextroamphetamine as its " go- pill " , to keep their pilots alert while flying during long hours of flight. ( I wonder what goes through their minds on Dex ) > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello. I am new to this group. I too am suffering from the > > > > effects of > > > > > > a SNRI called Cymbalta. I sucked into his B.S. and I do know better. A part of me wants to keep him happy... > Have you read past posts started by Hawaiian Wayne concerning > Dexadrine. - I have. But I feel safer taking Norpramin every once in while before sex. Dexadrine is a scary drug. Ria! ================= > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello. I am new to this group. Guest guest
> What does Norpramin do for you that you take it before having sex? - It offsets the serotonin in the SNRI, boosts norepinephrine, sensitizes the genitals, allows me to get sexually excited, and then experience orgasm. I used to take Norpramin alone but the tachycardia was too much to bear. I had to switch to an SNRI. I do not like to take the Norpramin because of the tachycardia but what is a person to do? I will do this once in a while only. Ria!
Guest guest
Maybe it would be interesting for you to try Reboxetine, a " pure " norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. But it looks like it's not avalailable in the US - the FDA turned down Pharmacia's application (I wonder why?). And then there's Strattera, but I've heard that can cause sexual side effects of it's own. Also my insurance covers the Cymbalta (etc). My doc has yet to see a drug that does not affect sexuality though. Ria!
