Call the other businesses near you and ask their rates (daily, weekly, monthly). Then set your fee in the middle. You don't want to be the highest price in town. But you also don't want to be the cheapest. You have a lot of *service* to offer with a pump rental, because you can fit the mother for the correct flanges, tell her how to use the pump appropriately, etc. She won't get any of that from BRU or Walgreens! Value your time and knowledge and don't make your price low. Aim for the middle of the range.

I always ask mothers why they want the pump. I tell them I need to know so I can recommend the correct pump because I have more than one type (hospital-grade, employment pump). Often when they tell me what they want the pump for, it can give me an opportunity to tell them how I can help them with the problem they are experiencing, and they will come for the pump *plus* schedule an appointment for a consultation.

That is my initial intention, also. To have breast pumps to rent/sell to my clients when needed. It is often difficult to find a rental site here. When patients do find one it is often a big box store where no information is given out about how to use the pump, etc. So, I have decided to do this but now just wondering what tips, business caveats, etc I can glean from this group. Hoping to get some great information.>> Hi Patrice > > > > Great question. I have been selling pumps for years, most of the time just> to my own childbirth clients.
