Guest guest
We had Sophie's IEP meeting on Wednesday. (BTW we call it an ILP [L=learning] in Australia). It was just an amazing experience - so different from last year's meetings. The big difference was in the attitude and expectations of the participants at the meeting. Essentially Sophie's needs and behaviours have not changed much at all. But the welcoming and accepting attitude made me feel like I have a totally different child now!! The teacher Sophie has this year has an understanding of autism and is very realistic and genuinely inclusive. Last year's teacher felt she couln't include Sophie until her behaviour improved - which really meant when the DS/ASD were gone!!!!
