Guest guest
Hi I take Neurontin for BiPolar disorder. It's main usage is as an anti-seizure med and for nerve pain. The thing that you have to be careful of is that it can be hard on your liver. I have blood work every three months to check on my liver. I've been on Neurontin for about 8 yrs now and it has kept my mood swings in check which is great. It hasn't helped with my Neuropathy with is a bummer. Hugs Diane - Minnesota > >> Tommie~ I see where you said you were on Neurontin...I believe that they have had some problems with that med lately..so PLEASE be careful...I have seen it on TV and have read it on the internet that it can and has caused more problems than it has helped..so please be careful and do some checking on it. I used to be on it but it didn't do me any good so I quit taking it. Please don't think I am being bossy...I am just concerned for my new friends! OHHHH....I live in Clinton TN..I know there was someone that asked...it's on the Eastern side about 30 miles from Knoxville... > Love you all!!! > ~ The Redheaded Redneck in Tennessee *grin* > > __________________________________________________ >
Guest guest
Diane, I didn't know you needed to have your liver checked every 6 months on Neurontin? I've been on it for years and have never had this done routinely. I'll definitely ask my doc. Thank you for posting this. Hugs, ~Tommie Re: neurontin... Hi I take Neurontin for BiPolar disorder. Guest guest
No, I am holding. if you look it up. most people loose wt while taking it. I lost what I gain with the Neurotin and that is it. I am on a fairly low dose. I take 25 mg 3 times a day. Which I think could be up some. I was on 50mg twice a day. and it helps you rest at night too. ~:~Jena~:~ My Home Page My E-mail Re: neurontin... Hi I take Neurontin for BiPolar disorder. Guest guest
Well at least you lost what you gained. If I could lose that much effortlessly, I'd be most grateful!! LOL Is that lazy or what? lol I will sure ask about the Topamax! Never hurts to change meds when you have been on one for several years. They do stop working as well as before and sometimes we don't even notice the change in effectiveness. ~Tommie Re: neurontin... Hi I take Neurontin for BiPolar disorder. Guest guest
For everyone who is taking Neurontin for one reason or another. When I first started taking Neurontin I did gain weight. The Dr. told me to take either Cimedidine or an appetite suppressant. They help counter act the cravings of wanting to eat all the time. I take Cimedidine and it helps. Cimedidine is an ingredient in Tagament. They don't know why it helps with the cravings, but it does. Hugs Diane - Minnesota > > I was unable to take the Neurontin. I gained 10lbs. in a month and it didn't help my neuropathy. so my PM Dr. changed me to another anti- seizure med. Topamax. I have been told you loose weight taking it. But it hasn't done that for me. But it does work great for zingers and neuropathy pain. > Jena > > ~:~Jena~:~ > My Home Page > My E-mail > >

Guest guest
Hi Tommie Yes you can buy cimedidine. It's supposedly the generic form of Tagamet. I usually get mine at WalMart. It's cheaper. Any drug store will have it. Not all supermarkets carry it. Hugs Diane-Minnesota > > > > I was unable to take the Neurontin. Guest guest
that is strange. it has been a wonder drug for a lot of people. a friend of mine that takes it said that her Dr said it would also help with hot flashes from Menopause.
