Hi Rob:

I too am on Dofetilide. I take 750 mg daily (375 in the am and 375 in the

pm). After a history of permanent AFib, I have been in NSR now for

approximately ten months - since my second dose of Dofetilide.

Rob,

Just to clear up any confusion, Yes Pfizer do recommend that 500 x 2 per day

Total 1000 mcg

I went on 750 x 2 per day 1500mcg perday. This dose kept my in Paroxysmal

AFfor a while.

As I understand it you can take any dose as long as your heart QTC does not

go above 500ms.

QTC= the time between the Atria and the Ventricle beats, its measured by an

ECG.

Ellen, Nice to hear from you. I have an appointment with my cardiologist

tomorrow. I definitely want to ask him about a higher (750) dosage of the

dofetilide. I, too, have been in NSR for approx. 10 months. Have you

considered other options? Ablation? What does your doctor contend? Keep in

touch. Rob from N.C.

Hi Rob & Fellow North Carolinian.

At the time of the Dofetilide Therapy, I was given a few choices relating to

various Ablation procedures. I opted for Dofetilide. My Duke EP has

suggested that I may not stay in NSR - but so far so good. He could be

wrong! I have no idea what the future holds. I take each day as a

blessing. However, I do worry off and on as what the *long* term affects of

Dofetilide will have in store for us. How do you feel about it?

If you have been in NSR for ten months, why would you considered upping the

dosage? Did you go to Duke for your Dofetilide Therapy?

Hi Greg:

Gosh.........I guess I could be going in and out of Afib, but if I am, I've

been feeling awfully good; especially in comparison to what I was

experiencing before Dofetilide. Also, between my various doctors'

appointments (which by the way are often); EP, GP, Pacemaker Surgeon; and

Orthopaedic, I am always in NSR. Also, my Pacemaker is checked on a regular

basis by way of magnet and telephone, and no sign of Afib. I am also being

tracked very closely with EKGs because of the Dofelitide.

And, then there is my oldest daughter, who is a physician. She is forever

getting her stethoscope out and giving a listen - no sign of Afib. I just

can't imagine that I'm not in NSR 24/7. I would think that it would have

reared its ugly face in some way long before this..........do you think?

All comments are most welcome.

Hi Ellen,

I am curious. How do you know that you are not in a/fib? I believe

that you have a pacemaker and therefore your ventricular rate (the

one that we " feel " ) is controlled by the pacemaker. It is my

understanding that we cannot feel the atria when they are

fibrillating.

As I say, just curious. I am glad that you are doing well.

Hi Ellen,

if I remember correctly you haven't had an AV node ablated - I would think

that if you went into AFib some signals would still be passed on to the

ventricles wouldn't they? So even though you have a pace maker you would

still have an irregular rhythm in AFib?

My cardiologist has given me the option of a pacemaker but says even if it

was a success it would be likely I would still go into AF about once

month - they go on a 75% improvement being a success - I'm not sure I do :)

cheers

Sorry. I'll be more specific in the future. My use of NSR was " non " sinus

rhythm. Rob in N.C. By the way, I have an ablation scheduled for Aug. 16.
