Guest guest
Ginger, I took Imuran also. I had no side effects. But as the dosage increased my bloodwork went haywire, so had to stop after some months. He started with 25mg/day for 2 weeks and is now on 50mg for the second 2 weeks. I believe that pending his blood tests, the doctor would like to increase his dosage to 75 or 100mg. Guest guest
Hi Cyndi, Yes, my Dad is on both prednisone (40mg/day) and the azathioprine and all is well so far. He's experiencing some slight visual changes -- his doctor says that it's due to the increased fluid retention with the prednisone (changes the shape of the lens) so not to worry. How is your Dad doing? anne (dad ipf 03/06) Re: From Ginger I am up in North Texas, Wichita Falls, to be exact. I sm visiting my new sweety, Dusty. I believe I mentioned him to you all before. Guest guest
Hi girls, I was on AZ.. it is to help with the prednisone side effects. That was my understanding. Hope y'all are doing well. I would get a good attorney. And copies of EVERYTHING. God Bless... Love and Prayers, Peggy 9/04 ipf Hi Anne, What exactlyl is the azathioprine suppose to do? Just wondering. My dad is having the fluid retention and the visual changes as well. He has been in good spirits and is adjusting to the oxygen fairly well. He realizes that he feels so much better with it...so he wants to wear it. They finally told us that my dad's PF came from asbestos. We are in the process of fighting his place of employment...so that is always fun. :-( I hope you are coping as well as can be expected still....how is your little baby? Guest guest
Anne, Many believe that Pulmonary Fibrosis is an autoimmune disease or secondary to an autoimmune disease. Azathioprine (Imuran) is to suppress the immune system and hopefully slow the progression of the disease. I could not tolerate Immuran and have been for years on a drug called Cell-Cept, which does the same thing.
