I only get that sweaty when it is very humid or if I've over exerted myself, which is getting easier to do.

Too hot

I'm writing to see if any of you have this same problem....I get so hot and sweaty whenever I'm doing anything. I know it's not hot flashes....cause I had them a few years ago.....if I'm sitting, I'm fine, but with any activity I get so sweaty, I'm literally drenched. Sometimes, I even get a chill after because my clothes are soaked. I've had patients who got sweaty when they had heart or respiratory problems, but nothing like this. I'm trying to figure out why this happens.....anyone else? --Diane Quinlandianequinlancomcast (DOT) netscoliosis/pf/2004

Hi Diane,My dad has been complaining of the same thing. He easily becomes drenched from sweating. We go to the doctor on the 12th and will ask her then why this is happening. I know this doesn't help but I wanted you to know you're not the only one. Diane,

I get extremely sweaty while I'm on the treadmill at rehab. It's really out of control. I ask that they blow the fan in my direction and I keep a towel draped nearby to mop my face. , my respiratory therapist says it's perfectly normal for someone like me, with lung capacity 43 % of expected. It got worse the yesterday. They switched me over from the nasal canulla to a venti mask for the treadmill. I was having alot of trouble keeping my sats above 87 or 88 even with the oxygen at 6 lpm. With the venti mask it stays comfortably at 91 or 92 and allows me to push harder (faster and longer) on the treadmill. The downside is the darn venti mask makes me sweat even more. UGH. I'm a puddle by the time I'm done. It's a change for me since I've never been a particularly sweaty person before. Just another lovely part of IPF. UGH!!!

BethDraw close. Hold hands. Life is short. God is good.

i also become drenched with sweat. i was having night sweats so bad

i literally had to put 2 towels under me to keep from having to

change the bed in the middle of the night...of course i still had to

change my clothes at least once a night and up to 3 times a

Yeah, I had blood work done recently....I don't know if prednisone causes

sweating.....I don't have a problem at night....it is when I'm doing

anything....if I walk from my car into a store, I get really hot....I was

running the vacumn for a couple of minutes...all on one floor....and I was

soaked......I'll have to ask the pulmonologist when I see him. I just wondered

if any of you have the same problem and it seems that many of you do. I was on

a low dose of lasix, but I stopped that a few months ago....I hated going to the

bathroom so often....we don't have a bathroom on the first floor, so I was

always going up and down the stairs. We want to put a powder room on the first

floor, but can't do it right now. Peggy - you've been on prednisone for a long

time, right? Have you always had that problem at night?

Thanks, ....it's not just my head but my whole body.....but, that's probably

what it is....just part of the respiratory distress. It never happens when I'm

just sitting still. Damn.....

Diane, I have hot spells but not as you describe. I don't think mine are hot flashes either...I'm too old. I will often just suddenly get really hot and sweaty. After a bit it leaves as quickly as it came.

Not much help! Gods Blessings...Sher ipf 5-06
