My sister has the sleep number bed, and I must admit I do sleep good when

I'm in it.

My bed isn't ready to be replace yet, but when I do, guess what I'm getting.

My bed now is only two years old, so I will give it a few more to go.

Having the heating pad built inside help my back, it don't get cold in the

winter.

Hi twheeler,

I have the " sleep number " bed and I love it!! It doesn't take the

pain away but it does let me get a better night's sleep than on a

regular bed. Plus, I have my side firmer than my husband does.

We bought the split king size that we can raise and lower the head and

feet for different positions for comfort.

We did a lot of investigating before we actually bought a bed. Find

a Sleep Number Bed store and go in and lay on them. You'll be amazed

at the different ones they have.

I never had a memory foam topper for any of my beds so I can't help

with that question, but I am sure there are a lot of people here that

could help with that one.

Good luck with the hunt for a new bed.

Hi Td

I don't use one of the sleep number beds. We have a

memory foam topper on our mattress that the only thing

I would trade it for, is a thicker one.

You can purchase a very good memory foam mattress at

www.overstock.com at a good price. Their shippings is

cheap too.

Heated mattress pads can be wonderful too. Some folks

in the group buy the good air mattresses and put them

on a waterbed frame. Overstock has an air mattress

that is tall enough that you wouldn't need a bedframe.

Before you purchase a sleep number bed, or any

expensive mattress, ask the store what their return

policy is. If it doesn't suit your needs, you should

be able to recieve a full refund.

I don't believe I would buy something that expensive,

unless there was at least a 90 money back guarantee.

I had to sleep in a recliner for several years until we got a bed from

Naturaflex. See www.NATURAWORLD.COM. Dh has hiatal hernia and has to sleep

with his head raised, and so we have a queen size with separate mattress and

controls. We both love it.

We tried Tempurpedic, memory foam, etc. and I was still in terrible pain in all

of them. With this, I sleep wonderfully and wake up with a minimum of

pain--none if I didn't have to get up!!!!LOL Flo

If you're referring to the Tempurpedic with this comment...

While I certainly understand that there are plenty of people who are

financially unable to afford that price, if you are saying you " won't "

out of " principle " because you think it's an outrageous price, you

might want to know that the Tempurpedic is warranteed and *will* last

for a full 20 years or more.

Stretching the price over that many years makes it more a much more

reasonable value - I don't know any other mattress that gives that

kind of return on the investment. And you can easily spend that much

or more on a standard innerspring mattress set these days anyway!

And every innerspring mattress I've ever bought has broken down and

started giving me problems in five years or less, no matter how many

times I've turned and flipped it. You never have to turn or flip a

memory foam mattress either - one less stress on my already over-

stressed spinal cord.

There is also the possibility of getting an income tax deduction on

the mattress, if your doctor writes a prescription for it and you

itemize deductions, depending on your individual tax situation - talk

to your tax accountant!!

And I should add that if the entire mattress is just out of your price

range, the memory foam mattress toppers are a great reasonably priced

alternative - I slept on a bed with one at a bed-and-breakfast, and it

was very good. I'd recommend them, but get the thickest one you can

afford.

I have a tempur pedic or memory pad on my bed. It is wonderful! It was about

$125-$135 at Sam's Club. My mattress has seen better days and I can't afford a

new one. However, the mattress pad helps me get a very good night's sleep. I

also have a tempur pedic pillow I've had for more than 12 years and it's still

great. It was worth the investment.

I also believe exactly what Kaylene has said about the new beds that

are out there that make claims to help your back pain. I, personally

have been thru all this shopping for a mattress or bed or whatever

could help me and my husband, Tom's back pain. I don't sleep well

anyway, and add back pain or a poor mattress or bed into that equasion

and you don't sleep, and tired all the time!!

We tried all the mattresses, pillow tops and you name it.... but we

ended up with a sleep number bed. They are unGodly expensive, so

Please Please be careful. Make sure that is what you really want, and

yes, they do have a money back warrantee, but I'm not sure how long, I

think it is only 30 days. But you get to sleep on it for 30 days .

We had to get the king size one that also has the adjustable head and

foot to it, and it is actually two twin beds but extra long. Sheets

are another expense that you have to consider and the mattress pads.

Go figure , they don't include any of them in with the price of the

bed. After you spend that much money on a bed, you should get a

lifetime supply of sheets and mattress pads!!!!!!!

Good luck with your searches and make very sure of your choices, even

if you have to visit and revisit the stores to lay on the beds

numerouse times, but these beds are a hell of an investment. It is for

a great cause tho!!

I really do love mine, and I do Not regret spending that kind of money

on it. I wish they were not so expensive tho, more people would buy them.

I am also looking for a new bed and have tried the Thermputic and also the

sleep number ones in the store. My daughter her boss has back pain and

he found this one. Look on line at Regin-inc.com or call .

It is a combination sleep number and termpuatic foam. He said it is the

best he has ever experienced. He had a regular sleep number bed and then

found this one. If you look on line at the prices you can't beat them.

They don't charge tax or shipping. The price you see is what they charge.

I called them and they even said that the semi-build the mattress to fit

the person that purchased it. My daughter her boss is very tall and they

added some inches for him and didn't charge extra.

I have not purchased it yet but I am close to making the purchase.

This is just another option that I found in my search for a new mattress

and a good nights sleep.

The UPS man JUST delivered a " knock-off " of the most expensive Sleep

Number Bed. It is supposed to be exactly the same at a third of the

price. Here's the website: http://www.heavenlyfoam.com/ . I'll let

you know how I like it.

For the past five years, we have been sleeping on a " memory foam "

mattress. It doesn't seem to be giving my back the support that it

used to. Of course, I spend twice as much time in bed as a " normal "

person, so I guess that the mattress is actually ten years old -

probably time to get a new one anyway!

Whenever we go out of town, I sleep on an Aerobed. This past

Christmas, I slept on it for about a week and noticed that my back

felt a bit better. When we were home again, I found myself choosing

the Aerobed over our regular mattress.

I really hope that the new mattress combines the best of both!
