Guest guest
Hey Joyce, It should be a good ride. Planes that size handle very stable. Enjoy your trip and the view out the windows. Tell us about it when you get back. Have fun--Grey 10/05 Re: Joyce> > > > Peggy, > > Destin. I am so excited about spending the whole week with grandkids. I am not allowed in the sun, so it will be early mornings and late evenings for me.........that is fine. I have only flown once before. I am terrified of flying. Guest guest
Peggy, I knew today was your doc appt. Let me know what your PFT scores are. My scores were better when they used the 'phone booth'. They also did my testing (in St. Louis) without my oxygen ..... I finally told the tech that I needed oxygen. She took my sat and it was like 79. She said, well you look fine and your nails were not turning purple. Aaaaargh!!! I hope that you do really well and that your doc visit goes well. Hugs, Joyce PF 1997> >> > Hi Joyce, How are ya? Guest guest
Hi Joyce and everyone else: Thanks for asking --I'm still here. I've been having a lot of trouble with my computer, and I've ordered a new one, nothing fancy, but one that won't shut down with that 'illegal operation' dialogue box. --- I go for function tests on Monday, including the phonebooth. Haven't scheduled a doc appointment. I don't believe my condition has changed much since my tests last year. I'm just thinking, after hearing all of you talk, that perhaps something more needs to be done to forestall the progression as much as possible rather than what the doc has ordered, which is precisely nothing. Yet, it doesn't seem like much can be done. A lung biopsy might 'prove' I have IPF, but it seems side effects from the biopsy are pretty terrible, and even if the diagnosis is IPF, the treatment wouldn't change. I know steroids can heal inflammation, but doesn't stop the actual progression and those side effects are also pretty bad. I think Pul Rehab probably would be a good plan, but I'm 55 miles from any type of treatment, and gas at this end of the state is $3.32 a gallon, which limits my driving. ---- So it seems like I'm at a place where my IPF isn't interferring too much in my life so I'm trying to prepare for the future when it will limit my activities, and try not to fret about what will be. I'm just hanging in here, folks, filling my life with interesting activities like my volunteering and quilting, wilting with the heat, thankful there's no humidity, and very appreciative that this group is available for all of us. I really am glad you all are here, nearby, and my heart hurts for all of you who are suffering from this dreaded disease. I know as my condition worsens you'll be there for me. I'll check in more often, because I, too, wonder where folks are and how they're doing. Just where is Barb from KY? Guest guest
Hey Leanne, I go Wed to talk to THE MAN. My Pulm. Dr told me it is time for THE talk. Have you got paddles for this boat we're in ? Let's just GO down stream and hide.. Peggy > > Question [:-/] What is this? we put my oxygen in a dry > > bag This is a wonderful invention. It's a bag made of water proof material that you can get in various sizes. I actually put my larger E tank in the bag (wasn't sure how much 02 I was going to use...) and we duct taped the bag shut leaving a space where the tubing could come out. I think you can get them at Sears. Fortunately, we didn't tip so everything remained dry. Woo Woo. But I also found the air MUCH cleaner in Michigan and I didn't have to use my oxygen much at all. Joyce, thank you so much for the kind words. You always have such good insight and you certainly have a wonderful way of saying things. I very much appreciate your kind and caring attitude. We are blessed to have you on our board. My weight has always been an issue. I've been heavy 1/2 of my life. I could blame it on the disease, but it's only a small part of it. If I want a lung tx, I need to make a conscious effort to get rid of the extra poundage. Honestly, I'm not sure I want a transplant still. I have to be careful because I could use my weight as an excuse not to have one. No one wants to hear this because I should feel lucky that it is an option to me. My husband says this is a no brainer. I'm not so sure. Thanks for letting me vent. Leanne ipf 1/03 > >
