Guest guest
Wow! This is almost too much to keep up with. When did keeping proper nutrition become SO complicated? What did our parents, grandparents, great grandparents do?? Did they just live in a less chemical, more natural environment than we do now so had less or different complications? I feel like I'm just getting the hang of just proper nutrition, but the minutia of how we have to live/eat to protect ourselves from our own environment can be (is) daunting! At least it is to me. I don't know how the rest of you feel about this or even manage to keep up with it. Guest guest
The fresh lemon, even in water, is alkalizing in the system. I think it helps to break up uric acid crystals, as does cherry juice. My husband has bouts of gout and to break up the crystals, he immediately drinks a lot of organic cherry juice mixed in water and immediately ceases all meats/dairy and other high purine foods and his pain subsides *overnight*. For those of you who have ever experienced the pain of gout- you'll appreciate what a miracle this is. marieSent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerrySender: miralax Date: Tue, 24 May 2011 08:18:58 -0700 (PDT)To: <miralax >ReplyTo: miralax Subject: Re: Alkalinity Is this why the lemon juice works so well? Guest guest
I hear ya! It's true! That's why, as parents, we just do the best we can and allow ourselves some basic concessions sometimes. I no longer stress-out if we go out to eat and my son eats non-organic fruits there. Sounds silly but this is huge for me! Guest guest
1/2 your weight in water consumed daily?? Does this mean that if you weigh say 140, then the recommended daily water intake amount is 70oz?? That's a lot, especially if you consider that a person who weighs 200lbs or more is going to have to put away 100oz of water or more a day.I try to do 64oz a day, but that's nowhere near 1/2 of my weight :(To: "miralax " <miralax >Sent: Tue, May 24, 2011 6:54:25 PMSubject: alkalinity Here's what my Shaklee dealer had to say about the alkalinity............... Hi Jeanie, All the Shaklee nutrition will seek to BALANCE the bodies Chemistry. Fundamentally the body wants to be slightly alkaline. To Detox the system you can use Shaklee’s Liver DTX complex, Herb Lax and Optifora System and EZ gest. Diet should be limited in acidic foods like sugar, salt, enriched flour, dairy, red meat and friend food. Coffee, commercial teas, candy, soda, etc. Alfalfa is a natural blood purifier and a natural diuretic. It has a natural tendency to balance the Ph. Soy protein will also help with that. ½ your weight in water consumed daily is recommended. Hope this helps, Marty

Guest guest
In my years of research to maintain good health for my family and my clients, I have learned the importance of keeping an alkaline body. Regarding water, I learned that our family was drinking acidic water. Ten years ago, we purchased a reverse osmosis system to filter all contaminants from our tap water. However, an RO system also removes minerals, making the drinking water acidic. In testing many bottled waters, I found that most bottled waters are also acidic... with the exception of Fuji and Mountain Valley. Our bodies are largely composed of water. I agree that to keep our body properly hydrated, we should be drinking half our body weight in ounces daily. For example, a 200 lb person should be drinking 100 oz of water daily. You can test your drinking water very simply by using pH drops (less than $2) and comparing the color to the pH chart. I attached the chart that I use. A dear friend of mine who is a RDH, CNC (Registered Dental Hygienist, Certified Nutritional Consultant) introduced me to Kangen water. This is a technology that Japan has been using in their hospitals and restaurants for the past 36 years. For the past 2 years, our family has been drinking alkaline, ionized, oxgenated water. I believe it is a wonderful addition to our diet and to the future of our health. I have shared Kangen water with many people during this time and have been rewarded with many positive testimonials in return. If anyone wishes to learn more about how we can improve the quality of our drinking water, please feel free to contact me. Guest guest
From the clinic we were at in Mexico, alkalinity is not the issue....they wanted their patients to be alkaline. The first test they did was test for acidity in the body. Top number was a 5, which usually meant cancer. In the dining room, fruits, vegetables and grains were served. The only protein served was chicken or fish and always baked or broiled. Red meat was NOT allowed, as was any refined white sugar (for patients or family members). They also sold a cookbook that contained only low-acid recipes. We maintain our son on this diet 3 years later as it was VERY scary to get a acid-level reading of 4.8. PS - One of the biggest juices they served (meaning they served it often) was banana juice. Not the best-tasting, but they said it helped reduce acidity. Another was a green juice which I think was grass. It was awful so I blocked it from my memory. Our favorite, however, is hibiscus juice. You can buy the dried flower petals, add a little stevia and just seep it like tea. Great for reducing acid. Does anyone have any insight on what to do when the body is too alkaline? It seems many children on here are too alkaline, including ourselves but no one ever really offered how to fix? I also just read that fruits are acidic EXCEPT for lemons and limes..........WOW this is a shocker? Anyone?
Guest guest
Yes, the Kangen water ionizer is sold via multi-level marketing. That may be 'out of the box' for some people (also for me at the time), however, when I experienced our family's health improving drastically with Juice Plus+ more than ten years ago (through our pediatrician) and learned that it was sold via MLM, I was curious to learn more. I enjoyed a career in IT as a computer consultant for 13 years and I am very detail oriented and thorough before moving forward on all decisions. Thinking outside of mainstream medicine was also new to me... as I spent twelve years begging for my prescription meds for allergies, sinus infections and bronchitis which eventually led to two bouts of pneumonia. Was my doctor helping me? I finally realized that he was not. This is why I listened to my pediatrician to try Juice Plus+ for my 4 year old daughter at the time. I was very impressed with her quick healing... and especially pleased that she avoided having ear drains (surgery) after she was given 60 days of various antibiotics. Still skeptical, I took it as well and put all of my ailments in my past. Since then, I've been quite honored to have met and worked with many doctors and health professionals who have integrated nutrition into their practices and their lifestyles and have made a positive difference in the lives of others. I am very passionate about the products that I represent as our family uses them as well. B. Guest guest
Hi Jeanie, Juice Plus+ is a whole food nutritional product made by NSA. It is not the product called "Juice Plus Fiber juice". Juice Plus+ is made with 17 pesticide-free fruits and vegetables, in nutrient dense soils and vine-ripened (esp. important as this allows the nutrients to develop in the produce while on the vine). They are picked at peak ripeness, juiced, dried, and put into capsule and chewable (gummy) forms and has been available since 1993. Our first experience with Juice Plus+ was with my dd who took Juice Plus+ when recommended by our pediatrician in the year 2000. She was 4 yrs old and was suffering for three months with an ear infection. I was exhausted as a mother to see my dd suffer in pain for so long and to endure many antibiotics during this time, all of which did nothing to help her. Within a few weeks of taking Juice Plus+, her ear pain subsided and healed her ear infection. At the time, I didn't understand the connection between diet and health... and was skeptical that it would help me. Taking Juice Plus+ helped me tremendously after my 12 years of suffering with ailments from allergies to pneumonia, none of which I've had for the past nine years. Our family has been taking it ever since to keep our diet balanced and our immune systems strong. I also experienced regularity by taking Juice Plus+... 1-2 BMs per day. One summer, I was very busy and forgot to take it every day for a few weeks and noticed irregularity. Within a few days of resuming my daily regimen, I became "regular" again. Five years after taking Juice Plus+, I decided to represent the product and help others which I have found very rewarding. To learn more about it, you can check out www.healthwithsusan.com. This began my mission to learn more about nutrition and to make changes in our family's diet. We have made many changes over the past 6 years to enjoy primarily organic foods and beverages and to be diligent in avoiding toxins in our foods, beverages, lotions, etc. and I continue to learn more every day. Also, children receive free product if an adult takes Juice Plus+ as well. B. Guest guest
Our grand parentrs did not have to deal with all the chemicals that are in our soil and food today. Being raised on a 550 acre ranch where we grew all of our onwn food. One of my doctors had me trrace back to the first time I felt realy sick.... Not to surprising it was 8 years after I left the ranch, moved to the city, ate city food, breathed combusitble fuels daily and worked in the city. I will I stayed a country girl but 50 years later hind sight is only a refeerence marker. The world's population demnads more and more food to keep up with the demand of the population explosions and very few people are eating soil rich foods these days. The worlds's populations are demanding farmers to turn crops so quicklyu that the soil does not have time to recover...farmers knowing this are using artificicial means to replace the nutrient in the soil instead of the old fastioned way of rotating crops, Just a little answer to a question,....grin Holly Subject: Re: AlkalinityTo: miralax Date: Tuesday, May 24, 2011, 4:33 PM Wow! I constantly feel like there is so much I don't know and SO much to learn! Guest guest
YIKES! Red meat (all animal products) are highly acidic, as are some fruits. There are some great websites that list various foods and how they fall on the acid/alkaline charts. Jeanie, it would be incredibly difficult for the average person to ever be " too alkaline " . According to Dr Baroody (the author of Alkalize or Die), to eat too much alkaline-forming food is a rare occurrence and could only be caused by the ingestion of a hyper-alkalizing substance such as lye or excess bicarbonate of soda. If one maintains the 80/20 rule, there is no danger of becoming too alkaline. What symptoms do you have that make it appear as though you are too alkaline? To: Miralax Yahoo Group <miralax >Sent: Wed, May 25, 2011 7:04:57 AMSubject: RE: alkalinity Yes, the Kangen water ionizer is sold via multi-level marketing. B. Dr. Hiromi Shinya is a gastroenterologist at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. Although medically trained, he treats his patients with dietary changes to improve their health. He also uses and recommends Kangen water. I highly recommend his book THE ENZYME FACTOR which outlines a healthy lifestyle. B. It IS a lot and I rarely get that much in but I try to ensure that my son gets more than 1/2, regardless of whatever else he drinks. But it is what the Ph books also say, as well. Does this mean that if you weigh say 140, then the recommended daily water intake amount is 70oz?? That's a lot, especially if you consider that a person who weighs 200lbs or more is going to have to put away 100oz of water or more a day.I try to do 64oz a day, but that's nowhere near 1/2 of my weight To: "miralax " <miralax >Sent: Tue, May 24, 2011 6:54:25 PMSubject: alkalinity Here's what my Shaklee dealer had to say about the alkalinity...............
Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear this. Thanks marie, I think she's acidic also, which is exactly what the FDA is investigating. She never had cold sores before Miralax and there are other things I'd rather not express on here that make me so mad I want to scream! There are some great websites that list various foods and how they fall on the acid/alkaline charts. Jeanie, it would be incredibly difficult for the average person to ever be "too alkaline". According to Dr Baroody (the author of Alkalize or Die), to eat too much alkaline-forming food is a rare occurrence and could only be caused by the ingestion of a hyper-alkalizing substance such as lye or excess bicarbonate of soda. Guest guest
I'd like to make a suggestion for those with cold sores. Taking L-Lysine amino acid will help to reduce the length of time to heal. I've been using Solgar L-Lysine 500mg capsules for the past 30 years. I prefer this brand because it contains vegetable magnesium stearate rather than magnesium sterate. This is a natural way to combat the typical 2-week pain and suffering of a cold sore. A tingling feeling is what you may feel just before the cold sore develops... which is when I will start taking L-Lysine. B.
