Guest guest
You hear quite a few different " perfect' ratios. My recommendation is not scientific at all. My son (7) prefers about equal amounts of epsom salts and baking soda. We now use about 2 cups of each. When we first started I used only epsom salts, which seemed to help with constipation and also had a calming effect. Adding baking soda didn't have any immediate effect other than the 'red butt' calming. But, what happened over time was subtle -- better attitude reduction in the number of supplements needed, etc, I know this may sound strange, but I just let him play and soak for as long as he wanted and that seemed to work best. Sometimes that was 5 min, at other times it was 30 min. At the same time I measured the first morning urine PH, which was very alkaline at first. You might think this is a good sign, but it really wasn't -- the PH was so hign it was clear the he wasn't clearing the acids from his body. Over time his first morning PH came down to a 'normal' level, which I attribute to baking soda/epsom baths. The added benefit was my boy -- just plain easier to work with. Not perfect, but a huge improvement. My daughter who went to school for massage gave me a basic massage to do with my son and it does help. We do other things as well. She said she was not certified nor did she learn to do the more in depth technique but there is a specific massage for chronic constipation. > > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > > >>>> > > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
