Guest guest
>My feeling is we need to know WHERE they are if we are going to be able to do anything to help them.< That's true, but we can't get " stuck " with a certain ways to do things.... 99% of the time the " where " question may be your most important question, but when that 1% call hits you, you must be able to let common sense prevail and vary a little from your protocol. (The protocol lovers are going to hate me here) Possibly for legal purposes EMD protocols are the most strict, and that's as it should be... but law enforcement and other emergency calls have so many variables that protocols can't be as strict. Some room must be given to " fit " the call. Training, technology, protocols and the rest of the " bells and whistles " are great... But what you MUST have is a GOOD dispatcher, with common sense, who really cares about the work. Weintraut
