Guest guest
Hello , I can't help with the numbness although I am sure someone here can. I actually wonder about my numbness; I've had it for 13 years now ... some of it is stable--especially in my face and hands. I also have it in my legs, but this " moves around. " This may sound crazy ... but I figured it was connected with my ... well, with something! I try not to be critical of my family ... but your words are so very true. No one can really identify with another person, from my perspective, unless they have " been there. " I don't expect my family to understand, and I don't even waste my time trying to explain. I tried with my oldest sister ... with bad results. I just carry on and thank God for the wonderful friends He has sent to my life and especially for the many cyber friends who can identify with what I'm going through. Even though my younger sister has FM, she still doesn't understand why I don't have the energy she has to go on ... I mean .... I could have had CFS to begin with and no FM ... just had the fatigue to begin with. It looks like she would remember I still was able to work, etc., for several years. You know, it's strange how people know you. They know what a hard worker, dedicated parent, wife, friend, Christian you've been .... and it's like some folks just think, " Well, she decided to start being lazy. " Yeah ... right ... but, then ... I've learned if I don't expect anything from anyone ... I'm not disappointed and I'm totally overjoyed when all those little blessings come in so many different ways! Gone for now ... and I have to quit writing. I just monopolized the list ... but that is only for now since everyone was so kind in responding. Will miss reading the info this coming week ... but maybe my grands will allow me some computer time :) Bye for now, JC (Just Crystal AKA Arefound) numb leg I was wondering what everyone thinks about this numbness I have in my thigh. It feels like the numbness that I have in the back of my neck only it's more intense. It feels like frostbite numb. The question is, is it a symptom? When I had the baby (three months ago) I started noticing new symptoms right away. As soon as the anesthesia wore off. I was kind of sick so they gave me shots in my thighs until I could move without throwing up. I had several in both legs. I thought at first I was numb from them hitting a nerve but is that possible this long after? The area is about a foot long and maybe 6 inches wide and it seems to be spreading. Could it be a chiari symptom? I also wanted to thank everyone for being so nice and supportive. Since i had the baby I feel much worse and it just seems like no matter how hard they try, family can't understand what it's like to have something new go wrong what seems like every other day. I know I may ask some silly questions but I'm thankful that I can ask anything and no one laughs! Guest guest
Hi and all, I have had numbness on my upper right thigh since 1987 and now numbness on my upper left thighinto the groing and lower abdomen since 3/99. Had decompression 4/29/99. The numbness is still there. I know I also have cervical stenosis, degenerative and buldging disc in the cervical area and in the lumbar area: L5-S1 min. bulging disc, epidural fibrosis and according to the last lumbar mri: " change in the signal and enhancing characteristics of the disc and adjacent vertebral endplates at the L5-S1 level with progressive narrowing of the disc. The findings raise a possibility of discitis. This is a somewhat atypical appearance for post operative and degenerative changes within the disc and vertebral endplates, although this is a consideration. " (had 2 lumbar lams in the past). I'm not quite sure what all that means except that the nsg feels the leg weakness I have is being cause from cervical spinal cord compression. So, I'm still wearing a c-collar and he wants me to start PT for scar tissue mobilization in my lower back. So, after all that, I don't know what's causing the numbness on the thighs-probably not the lumbar area of L5-S1 as that would be a different dermatome. Maybe altered CSF flow? Maybe the cervical stenosis? Anyone have any other thoughts? Sorry so long.
