Guest guest
Hi, my name is Gehri, and my sister recently was hospitalized and diagnosed with Cirrhosis from alcohol. She is very sick, and I don't know what to expect. She actually has not looked well for over a year, she's lost a lot of weight, tired all of the time, complained of stomach pain and constipation. Finally, a trip to urgent care led to the er, which led to hospitalization. Her eyes are yellow, she has ammonia in her blood, and they are giving her lactulose to reduce it. Her speech has been slow, but when I saw her the other day she couldn't speak at all, hold a pen, and has not been able to go to the bathroom by herself. She is still not eating, and continuing to lose weight. I need to know if she is going to rebound from this. The hepatic encephalopathy is the most troubling, because she's altered, confused, and in and out of it most of the time. I feel so bad because if she had addressed this a year ago, she would probably be better. Anyone here with experience with this, or has a loved one with this, please let me know what to expect.
