Connie - Please know that you are not a failure. It is the system that failed you. You cannot help that you are in the condition that you are in. I had to file for disability myself two weeks ago. I guess it is part of the Medicaid program here in Indiana that if you are trying to get qualified for Medicaid for hospital bills, that you have to file for disability to justify it. I have been told that in most states people who file for disablilty are denied the first time. This happened to a friend of mine who has Fibro. She filed for it again and lo and behold was approved. Don't give up on this. I think sometimes the system works more against us then for us. Hang in there!

Guest guest
Hi Connie, Hang in there! From what I have seen, the SS office almost always denies someone's disability claim the first time, but you have to keep fighting for yourself! I know it is really hard to find strength when it takes all of your energy just to get through the day, but try your hardest not to let them break you down! You are in my prayers and I hope you find the strength and the help you need to get you through these hard times. hopetht wrote: I made my visit to the ss off and my claim was denied. Guest guest
Dear Connie - I'm so sorry you got this bad news! Have you appealed the claim yet? Everyone gets denied the first - and sometimes second! - time applying for SSDI. That's just the way the system works. There are attorneys who do nothing but SSDI application appeals, and the amount they charge is limited by law and they only get paid once your claim is approved, so you don't have any upfront costs. Have you talked to one of those expert attorneys yet? That would be your next step if you haven't. If this was your first application, please don't give up. It may take longer than you can imagine, but it's not the last word. Meanwhile, I hope you can get some help with your daily living expenses to keep you going. Maybe some on this list can provide you with suggestions of where to go for help.... Cheryl in AZ
