Guest guest
Jodi, At one time, I had itching due to an elevated bilirubin. I was putting lotion on myself, (before I realized what was causing it), and it would give me relief for a few moments.... but not for long. It really just made it worse. The Dr's later told me that lotion is the worst thing you can do for it, it clogs the pores (or something like that). Love,

Guest guest
Jodi, I have extreme itching all over. It is one of the side effects of PSC. Ask Adam to email you the info. he emailed me about the causes of the itching. It is very interesting. Be sure and tell the doctor about 's itching. Guest guest
When I have itching problems I drink a bunch of water and jump in a really hot bath and soak for about half an hour. I usually keep track of my temperature to make sure it doesn't go over about 102 or 103 F. Then I get out of the tub and cover up with blankets for a while and sweat. Then I rinse off in a cool shower. It's not real pleasant, and it can make the itching worse while you're hot, but once I'm done and have cooled off, I always feel a lot better. I think all the sweating helps clear out the pores etc. Anyway, it's worth a try athan WYBEAR21@... wrote: > > Jodi, > At one time, I had itching due to an elevated bilirubin. Guest guest
athan, Hot baths help me a lot, too. I seem to feel more fatigued with the cold, so when I itch, or feel really draggy, or get badly chilled, I'll soak in hot water. It often works for me. The itching can be a real nuisance. For me, it's almost a traveling itch that seems to come from the inside rather than like a dry skin itch. I have felt it between my toes, under my eyelids, and under my fingernails. It's also the type of itch that isn't resolved at all by scratching. Lotion isn't going to help. Cholestyramine does. However, I keep forgetting to take it because I try to take it at noon when it won't interfere with the other meds. Then I'll get a bout of itching and remember to start it again. If the itching is too bad, it will wake me up at night. I then take benedryl, not because it alleviates the itching, but because it makes me so sleepy, that at least I can get some rest. athan wrote: When I have itching problems I drink a bunch of water and jump in a really hot bath and soak for about half an hour. Guest guest
Jodi-- Try a humidifier and if it is in fact dry skin, there should be some alleviation. If not, then you would know that PSC is more likely the culprit. Laurie
