My husband used to remind me that the practitioner on the other end of the machine was "in the loop," so to speak. So the machine wasn't just reading me, it was also reading her. Or at least what she thought my problem was was affecting what the machine was telling her, or how she was interpreting it. Who knows? All I know is that in 3 years and lots of money she never once mentioned Lyme, until the time came to take credit for doing the work that enabled someone else to identify Lyme as the problem. I hope it goes without saying that I was not nutty enough to keep seeing her.

But it does give me pause to think that with these devices the practitioner is everything. If that's the case, then it seems that no amount of research is going to help much, and I'm wasting my time with it. Which I've begun to fear is the case. I've been contemplating just starting to put out feelers in the alternative health community looking for a practitioner. Finding someone online--not so much. I'm afraid the emperor is running around nude a lot these days. There's money to be had, and lots of gullible people, not to mention desperate ones.

I have heard repeatedly, that with the EDS type devices, the practitioner is everything, so I think you are on the right track.

Here's a recent post from another group, where the individual had a session with a practitioner using a SCIO machine (all the rage):

"I have personally experienced a session with the SCIO machine that has two ankle, two wrist, and 8 forehead connections. The computer graphics were terrific but when I experimented and disconnected some of the connections, the computer and the operator did not notice. When I confronted the operator with my discovery she shrugged and told me she does not need the machine and sort of hinted that the computer was just eye candy. My conclusion therefore is that this device is a scam."

On the other hand, there have been posts on this list by people who have had luck with the SCIO machine. What to think? Unfortunately, with energy medicine, there's always the "emperor has no clothes" factor (if you remember your fairy tales, you know what I'm getting at). Energy medicine is valid. There are all sorts of devices and characters surrounding it, and navigating through that is a chore.
