Guest guest
My fiance’s office is below an apartment and we heard a lot of upstairs stomping and banging around, but he had a dropped ceiling to accommodate light fixtures and was able to put sound insulation/batting in that space (around the lights) and it helped immensely! We hardly ever hear anything anymore from upstairs. I wonder it there’s a way to install a dropped ceiling (just a framework that hangs less than a foot below the regular ceiling) and then stuff insulation batting into the space inbetween? I don’t know if a landlord would pay for that, but if you don’t want to move and can afford it, somewhere like Lowe’s or Office Depot would be able to help you out. You can also put up sound insulation panels (even temporarily) on walls to help with voices, TV, etc. coming through. I know these ideas aren’t practical for everyone, but hopefully it might help someone here. Ummm yeah, that's one of the biggest causes we moved again after a year. Daily 6am-9pm of stomping show from upstairs. We resorted to broom banging on the ceiling, but it didn't seem to make a difference. The answer from management: oh yeah, we seems to have a lot of complaint from those on the ground floor, seems to be worse there... and? and nothing, they didn't seem to care :/ I tried talking to my upstairs neighbor once too, he didn't seem to care.We live on the second floor and make very sure that our downstairs neighbors aren't aware of it I asked them a few times, and they keep confirming that we're as quiet as a mouse. I guess you gotta have the experience or the disability to have empathy? Or, you just need to be a decent person how gives a hoot.>> My neighbors (in condo) sound like a herd of elephants as they stomp around their home and stomp up and down the stairs. There are 2 adults that live there permanently, and 2 of their adult children that come and go. Actually, I don't think " herd of elephants " is quite the right description because the elephants walk a LOT quieter!>
