Hi,

Being a Licensed Esthetician, I wanted to help you out on this question.

Toners, fresheners, and astringents are all essentially the same type of

product. These are liquids that are used after cleansing, just before the

moisturizer is applied.

Toners usually have an alcohol content of 4 to 15 percent and are design for

use on normal and combination skin. They tone or tighten the skin

Astringents may have an alcohol content of up to 35 percent and are usually

used on oily and acne prone skin. They help oily and acneic conditions of the

skin and remove access oil on the skin, but be careful in choosing an astringent

because some may be too drying.

Fresheners or skin freshening lotions usually have an alcohol content of 0 to

4 percent and are beneficial for mature, dry and even sensitive skin.

Toners benefits:

They remove residue left over by cleansers

They help in restoring the skin's natural pH balance

They have a temporary tightening effect on the skin

Usually your face feels a slight tingly sensation along with a smooth

consistency when you touch your skin after using toner. Your skin just feels

cleaner. You can take a cotton pad and gently blotch your skin after applying a

toner to make sure you have remove any product residue is left on the skin.

I hope this information helps you.

Sincerely,
