Guest guest
I hope the docs are looking for and identifying or ruling out intra-CSV, intra-brain viruses as part of the differential diagnosis. The parent might write the docs a polite letter asking if they " are looking for and identifying or ruling out intra-CSV, intra-brain viruses as part of the differential diagnosis " . j_kalis wrote: >What neurologist in Chicago do you recommend? Guest guest
What neurologist in Chicago do you recommend? I think I remember reading on this list once that you had someone there that you liked. A newborn born in Indianapolis two weeks ago is having siezures and turns purple and loses oxygen during them. They thought they had her stable on phenol barbitol (sp?) but now she is having trouble and the parents claim that the neurologist there has made several mistakes. They want someone good. They don't want to waste any time. They are open minded. Thanks, in NC
Guest guest
, They actually found that the baby had a brain hemmorage (sp?). The docs think she may have had a stroke in utero. Could this in any way be related to the virus's you mention or would these be completely separate issues? I have no idea why a baby would have a stroke in utero. Thanks for your help. > > > > > > > >>What neurologist in Chicago do you recommend? Guest guest
My daughter started having seizures at 8 months of age. This is what I learned about seizures during her illness: Do you know what type of seizures the child is having? It is important what ype of seizure the child is having. For some seizures the best treatment is Vitamin B6 IV inffusions from what I have been told. AN EEG has to be done at the same time to see if the B6 is making a difference. Looking at diet is important too: if breastfed - mom needs to take supplements and change diet to eliminate toxins, allergens etc. VRP has a good article on supplements helpful for seizures. If formula - be careful what you use - I don't know anything about formulas - something hypoallergenic would be probably best... My daughter's seizures stopped without meds. I thank God and parents on sites like this one for that. If you want more info email me directly, Ania > > What neurologist in Chicago do you recommend? Guest guest
Our daughter also presented with seizures. She's 11 now. But, for years we didn't understand the nature of her seizures. Through fatty oxidation disorder testing we found that she can't metabolize certain fats because of enzyme deficiency. We have to be very careful with amount and type of fats she can ingest - even supplements such as Vit.E and A and D. With the proper diet and supplements her seizures are fairly under control. She took Depakote for 8 years and she's now switched to Keppra. We wanted to remove all seizure medications so our neurologist conducted an 8 hour EEG. We still have to keep her on the Keppra. Carnitine can also induce a seizure for our daughter if she takes too much - which is a normal amount for most people. Unfortunately, our daughter can not take fish oils and such - she just can't properly metabolize it. She becomes " foggy " .
