Guest guest
Just an FYI, I spent most of my time with my dermatologist at UVA (University of Virginia) another "Top Teaching School" for medicine and I got the SAME response. I did get a little more actual attention from my doctor because he was a Christian and believed in treating people as a person vs a number, but no ground-breaking information. So I am my own researcher!!! You don't need a lottery to fix yourself! Just keep looking, learning, and praying! We're here with you Crystal! Though I believe I have lived with it for about 7 to 8 years. My EN is not bad and I have chosen to not pursue any course of treatment and after good blood test results and xrays have also decided to stop pursuing my "trigger." However, My dermatologist in my town referred me to the dermatology department at University of Kansas Medical Center, if I wanted to go. I thought, what the heck, I might as well go and see what they have to say about EN. I was interested in finding out what they know, since they are a teaching hospital and all. My appointment was two days ago. I saw a student, an intern and my doctor was the actual director of the dermatology department at KU. "WOW" I thought to myself. I'm going to leave here with answers. NOPE! He looked at my leg and wanted to put me on saturated potassium iodide (SSKI). Well, I've read about that and though it works for some I do not feel my EN is bad enough to warrant SSKI treatment at this time. He then suggested that I take a Vitamin D3 supplement everyday. Fine, I can give that a go. I left with a few dietary suggestions I might try: more fruits and veggies and low-carb. Really? No kidding? I have learned so much from this site, that I truly feel my appointment to KU was pointless. In fact, I told the intern about the yahoo group site in case she wanted to tell other patients about it. She didn't bother to write it down though, so I doubt the info will get passed on. Just wanted to pass on that even one of the top (surely top 20 something) teaching hospitals in the US seems to know as much or even a little less then the collective minds of this group. Thanks again for this group!!!!! Oh, and I haven't won the lottery yet, but funding EN research is still on my list of things to do if I win a huge lottery!
