Most of my problems with " junk e-mail " began after I had a mail

account at Hotmail.... It has gotten worse since Yahoo does not

scan for " junk " at all....

I use Eudora for email and can set filtering based on the DSN rather than

the email address. That has helped a lot, but it hasn't stopped the

problem.

List members may be sharing email addresses, but most of this is just

spam that is aimed at the owner and moderator addresses for the groups

that are listed " publicly " at Yahoo. I get them coming to

the three groups that I moderate. So far, I have not gotten any for

the two groups of which I am the " owner " . I am guessing

that they just haven't found those groups yet....

Funny

how, when I put a program on my cmptr to clear out AND block all that

crap that was coming into my mailbox, my messages are suddenly

undeliverable, from me to you. I'm thinking that maybe yahoo is

where all the crud is coming from. It has tripled and quadrupled,

and there is no other explanation. I just downloaded the blocking

program a couple of days ago. Hmmm. I still won't allow

anymore of the porno, viagra, or mortgage crap in my mailbox, if I have

to quit every single thing I'm connected to. I don't bargain that

way.

Yahoo scans for spam... it even sends it to a separate folder so that you don't have it cluttering up your in box. AND anything junk that comes to your inbox you can mark as spam and it gets added to Yahoo's list as spam...

But, anyway... we've gotten really off topic with this and maybe it's time that the discussion got moved over to the Cafe group so that we can focus here a little more....

For anyone that is not yet a member of TTSG Cafe... just send an email to either Feisty or myself and we'll shoot you an invitation. The group is open by invitation only - to members of any of the Thyroid support groups - so that we have a place to visit more casually and to get into off topic discussions like Spam, etc.

Don't forget all those music sharing programs like Kazaa.............

-----Original Message-----From: topper2@...

Many, many people found out the hard way... and it's really hard to get it off and keep it from reinstalling itself once it's on....

Some others that clients have brought in for me to fix are:

Hit box

Bonzi Buddy

there are about a half dozen of them.. but they aren't coming to mind right now... oh Xupiter is another. Several were so badly embedded throughout the hard drive that I actually had to wipe it all off and reinstall.... they lost everything.
