Guest guest
, are you running a spyware cleaner? A lot of the spam is generated by spyware dumped on your system... I'm using AdAware... it's in our files section... I've tested SpyBlocker for a couple of weeks and it's missed things that AdAware caught.... It might help. The filters that block porn and other types of spam do so by matching text keywords... everytime a spammer alters the word you're blocking by adding spaces ( p o r n, po rn, etc.) or punctuation marks (p.o.r.n, p*o*r*n, etc) it will get through the filters. The best thing you can do is NEVER do an unsub on spam.. it just verifies that your address is active and will get you on a gizzillion other spam lists..... Guest guest
Yes, I do NOT unsubscribe to anything, I just don't answer them at all. I still think that it's coming straight from Yahoo. Guest guest
I already had the Spybot, and it seemed to have done pretty well, but, at their reccommendation, a couple of days ago, I downloaded something called SpyBlaster, which is supposed to block the rest of the crud, or more crud. I use the Spybot every single day and download all the updates regularly. After I downloaded the SpyBlaster, I opted to include everything even kept out of it in red print. Funny thing is, though, some of the things in red that I could have opted to leave out of it, were adult things (not sure what that was about). Anyway, within a couple of hrs and from then on, the junky mail got 3 or 4 times worse than it was before. The strange thing is that since I downloaded it, the "postman" keeps telling me that my mail is not being delivered. I'm connecting the two, and I think it has to do with advertising sent directly from the Yahoo folks. I don't think that that is just in my head, i.e., their sponsors, etc... Guest guest
Well, try to keep in mind that it's the advertising that Yahoo does that allows the groups and many other of yahoos free features to be free. I try to think of it like commercials on tv... you linger on those that are interesting and skip over those that are not... As far as I know, I have no proof... porn related is not sent by Yahoo...... oh.... when you joined Yahoo you agreed to view their ads as part of your free service.... There is a section in your membership that you can edit to delete a lot of the stuff that you get.... it's mostly all turned on when you join.. so if you haven't unchecked some of that stuff... it might help if you do. I don't remember off the top of my head how to get to it... so if anyone has trouble finding it give me a holler and I'll try to get to it later and do a step by step.... I'm gonna be tied up (busy, no ropes or anything! hehehehehe) for the next 3 or 4 hours so I can't do it right now. LOL Re: Undeliverable Messages We all learn as we go ... can't tell you how many stupid things that I've done before learning..... Would you believe I spent about 8 hours downloading the coolest Desktop themes for my puters... ALL FREE!!! I was sorting and logging them and just having a ball imagining how much fun I would have with all these different custom themes on all the computers.... I was all the way up to the H's on the list when I decided to install one while waiting for a phone call..... the blasted thing was full of spyware/trackers!!!!! I'd downloaded nearly 60 of them... on dial up... hours and hours of downloads... I know better.. I should have downloaded the first one and tried it before spending all that time.. but they were just SO COOL!!! I did this over the weekend.... just a couple of days ago!!!! I've isolated the downloaded files on a separate drive for now... It's gonna be one of my projects, to see if I can extract at least the desktops if not the cursors and sounds.... If I'm successful with that I'll be going back to grab more.... I took it in to have an expert look at it I had 4000 adware issues with my puter. Now I have adaware and spyware. I run once a week. For them to clean them off, it took 6 hours of scans because so much was imbedded. Re: Undeliverable Messages Spybot, I think, is the one that I used before AdAware... it was doing quite a bit of harvesting on its own.... In the years that I've been using AdAware I've found no evidence that it's done any harvesting and their website displays the award that they have won.... I'm using their free version, BTW.... , tell them about the nasty GATOR that we got off of your computer when you and I first met..... That is one of the most notorious spywares out there. They offer free password management software to help you out. In reality to are installing a spyware program on your computer that keeps track of your passwords for you and also tracks EVERYWHERE that you go on the internet and reports it back to GATOR... then you are victim to all the crap that is sent to you based on the information of what interests in by way of websites visited, etc. Oh, and don't forget the free ecard services.
