Guest guest
Hi everybody, this is a general question on behalf of one of my patients: What is the best test to assess one's current mineral and vitamin status? She is not keen on hair analysis. Can anybody recommend a particular test/tests/laboratory? I would be grateful to hear your ideas and experiences. Guest guest
There are a number of tests available for vitamin and mineral status, but in my opinion (having used a number of methods over a period of over 15 years) is that there is no 'best' method. All have their drawbacks, their pros and cons, and if you understand the limitations of each method then you can make a personal judgement about which method you prefer. Personally, at our Clinic here, we use a functional assessment using a research-based and validated questionnaire, and this I believe gives us the best results, certainly in terms of the improvement in symptoms people have when they follow the treatment recommended in the test. Other methods involve urine testing, which measures certain markers giving a functional assessment of nutrient status at a cellular level, and this test also gives an indication of bowel dysbiosis which is always useful. If you would like any further information please contact me off list, or have a look at our Clinic website, which may have additional information. Hope this helps. Arwel MB BCh Dip.Phyt.
