There is a very useful Retractable Oxygen Tube Reel which is no longer

manufactured. You might be able to find one on eBay.

There is a web site www.oxy-reel.com which advertises an oxygen tube reel

which " will be available soon " Apparently they are not yet in production, but If

you contact them they probably have a few made up for show and tell - they

might be willing to send one out to you. It doesn't hurt to try.

www.slaterlabs.com have swivel adaptor which helps to keep the hose from

kinking up and making those treacherous loops on the floor. Also, they sell

comfort accessories for the cannula and over the ear tubes.

tripping hazard - oxygen tubing

Hi -- Anyone else dealing w/ LO who seems more in danger of falls after

being put on oxygen? Dr. put Dad on Oxygen about a month ago due to low

levels caused by irregular heart beat. We're pushing Dad to wear it all

the time, though he hates it & says it hurts his ears . . . but he has

fallen 2x in the past 4 days, seemingly by tripping on the hose. He is

so unstable and this adds another problem in the mix. He rarely will

use the walker. I'm trying to think of some way for the hose to 'reel

up' when he moves toward the machine, so there isn't all the slack on

the floor -- but am not that mechanically-minded. Hoping someone else

has improvised a solution. Thanks for any ideas! Hugs, Susie

hello,

we dealt with the oxygen tubing, by after putting it in dads nose to put the

remainng over his head and tighten it that way instead of under his chin, we

always had someone walk iwth dad to the bathroom as he was too unstead y to do

the walk by himslef. so what we did was have the hose behind me instead of in

front of him and then we would take him to the bathroom, hold the hose so he

could sit down as needed and then when he got up whoever walked with him would

grab the hose and keep it out of his way on teh way back which was a slower

pace because he already went to the bathroom. it isnt easy but that was what

worked for us. hugs, sharon m
