Guest guest
Welcome Sherry and Don, You are so right about the people here being wonderful. I've belonged to other lists and I can tell you without hesitation that this is the best bunch of people going. I have learned so much and have received lots of support. I'm sure in time that you will feel the same. Best to you both, Courage
Guest guest
Hi, Sherry! Welcome to the family. Gladys -- new member hello Hello everyone, My name is Sherry and my husband of 33 years has LBD. We had lived in Alaska, (Don for 54 years and me for 35 years). Don's nero dr stopped her pratice and we were without a nero dr for one year. Only 5 of them in anchorage and no one accepting medicare. Well we moved to Denver, with my best friend of 27 years and her husband. we bought houses next door to each other, neat huh? We have wonderful Doctors here and a home that is accessable to him. What a relief! I loved Alaska and he really did not want to leave but those winters were getting longer each year. My husband is 71 and I am 55, so this illness has been a real life changing event. I had to stop working to stay at home with him. I have been reading your responces to questions and have had a lot of validation for my feelings and the changes I have seen in Don. It is so sad to have lost my partner who always carried his half of the marriage. Now I carry both mine and his and it gets lonely and overwhelming at times. I am so lucky to have our two wonderful friends next door who come to my aide at any time. I try not to abuse that response and to remember to thank them for their love and kindness. Moving here also has put us about midway between all the relative. It is easier and cheaper to get to us now than it was in Alaska. Don is about 8 years into this illness and was dx LBD about a year before we left Alaska for about 2 and 1/2 years ago. Thanks for a place to check in and get the validation I need to keep me sane. You all are great people, I can tell by your writing to each other. Sherry Welcome to LBDcaregivers.
Guest guest
Sherry, How wonderful to have your best friend and her husband next door to help with things. I feel for your loneliness. I have no doubt Don feels the love you give him every day.
