On Friday we finally placed my dad in a care facility. We told him

that he was going in for rehab to get stronger so that he could come

home again. Unfortunately we felt like we had to lie so that he

would stay there and have some hope for the future. Anyways, last

night we got a call from the facility saying that they had called

911 because my dad had attacked four nurses and had escaped from the

facility. After an encounter with the police and a ride to the ER

in an ambulance my dad is now admitted to the hospital and we are

waiting to find placement for him. The skilled nursing center that

he was at refused to take hime back. My question is if they will

not take him, who will??? The ER doctor was also talking about

changing his medication so that he will not have as many aggresive

episodes. Does this mean that they will drug him so that he will be

in the " down " state more often? My dad is on Sinemet and Exelon and

he takes 25 mg of Seroquel at night. He is out of it in the

morning, becomes alert but agitated from about 10 until 4 and then

the evening hours are either a down time for him or he becomes

highly agitated. We are our wits end right now. He and my mom have

lived with my husband and myself (we have 3 small children) for the

past 4 months. It became too difficult for them to stay with us (I

was worried about the effect on my kids) and my mom cannot care for

him on her own. That is why we placed him in a facility. I don't

know when this nightmare will end.
